Hi guys, Hope all is well with you all

My self and my fiance made a mistake of not listing other names used on G-325A instead wrote down None because we misinterpreted it. Basically my birth certificate lists my first name, surname followed by my grand father's first name as as my full name (very common in my country of origin), whereas my passport only lists my name and surname (no field for grandfather's first name). I have always been known by my first and surname only so we have used this on all the forms. Both G-325a and I-129F asks for other names used, so now we're thinking we should of listed the names as in my birth certificate in these fields. We are now in the process of sending packet 3. My Question is

1) Can we correct these forms and take them to the Consulate during my interview?

2) Could they deny us a visa for misrepresentation? which wasn't done intentionally.

Please advice. Thanks a lot

Alright, well I just got slack for giving my opinion on a previous question, but since no one has answered you, I'll just let you know what I've gathered from other posts. I MAY BE WRONG, so please don't take this as fact, and if you get better advice, please disregard what I've said.

From reading other posts, I believe that if they find some discrepancy in your forms, they will simply send you an RFE and you will have to correct anything that you didn't fill out correctly.

If it were me, I would just wait and see if they contact you regarding the problem.

Please, someone else correct me if I'm wrong!

Goodluck :)

This is a long thread, but some of it may give you an idea of why some people get sent RFEs.

I hope that helps!

Thanks AlinaH, I know the uscis would send RFE's when they see mistakes but we have been approved by them and now our file is with the London consulate which is why we're confused on what to do. One of the packet 3 forms (DS-230) also asks for other names used. We dont want to send packet 3 just yet (until we know for sure of what to do). If anyone else's got any more suggestions please do let us know.

Correct the mistakes on the Ds-230 and mention it at the interview.

You can try calling the London consulate to see if they have any advice but I am not sure if they are like Montreal who doesn't receive calls

Good luck

You can call the london consulate and ask there advice. They do answer calls but the cost is 1.10 a min. If they cannot answer your question then they may give you the 'code' to email the Embassy and they can then tell you what to do.

Saying that, my mums name and birth place was different on my birth certificate so i put the correct info and nothing was said. Also, at interview, if i remember correctly, they only want to see your passport and if your passport states what you put on the form then maybe you will be ok.

That being said, in this game you do not want a 'maybe'. Call the embassy and see what they say, the cost of the call will put your mind at rest so will therefore be worth it. I cannot remember the number but you can find it on here, or someone may be able to tell you it?

I just found this:

Operator Assisted Visa Information: 09042-450-100 (£1.20/min) Monday through Friday, between 8.00 am and 8:00 pm, and Saturday, between 09.00 am and 4.00 pm

Visa Information Line: 09068-200-290 (60p/min) 24 hrs only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks.

I did not know they had a visa information line so maybe try them first?

Good Luck!

Thanks you guys. I have tried ringing the London consulate the phone line is busy. I will try again later. My fiancé is telling me to keep things the way they are because I don’t have other names. The reason I think I should mention what’s on my birth certificate is because my grandfather’s name which is listed last on my birth certificate is not listed on my passport as it doesn’t have a field for a grandfather’s first name. And none if the uscis forms have a field for a grandfather’s first name either. That’s the reason I thought I should list my First name, my surname followed by my grandfather first name on the space for other names used. What do you think ? do you think we should? Thanks a lot.

By the way I think they will ask for birth certificate. May be someone can confirm this

Yeah, you do need your birth certificate at the interview. I personally think you would be fine because it is not on your passport but i am not gonna issue your visa. No one can really answer this question for you because it could go either way. If your super worried then you need to keep trying to call the embassy, maybe take the advice of the other VJer and just put your name plus your grandfathers name on all other forms from now and explain to the officer. Personally, if it was me, i would keep trying the embassy and see what they say.

Thanks Lesley, will keep trying the embassy.

FYI guys, we have sent a copy of my birth certificate and passport with the initial petition. The must of seen the discrepancy and still approved us so I am tempted to leave things as they are. But I will still try to get hold of the embassy. If any of you guys have comments or/ advices please keep them coming.

I hope the embassy answers my call soon. I need to send those forms soon.

I would wait until they send you an RFE and not do anything until then, because things could get very confusing if you tried to correct your information by submitting unrequested documents.

Wanna hear mine? There was a discrepancy between my passport and marriage cert entries but I was approved all the same at the normal pace without any RFE. I myself failed to see it, but the interviewing consul noticed it. Now, sadly, frustratingly I am in LIMBO!

Hi Jalie,

Just saw your post, Sorry you're going through this. Any updates from the embassy? Do you think it would have made a difference if you had added your other names on ds-230 where it asks for other names used? Please update us on their decision, if my memory serves me right the consulate will let you know in 2 weeks.

By the way guys, manage to speak someone at the London consulate, they advised me to write other names on DS-320 and mention at the interview that we have made mistakes on i-129f and G-325a. I asked them if this will create a problem for us and they don’t know but that’s what we will do. Please pray for us. If any of you have been through similar situation or have heard of similar situation please let us know. I hope I won’t get denied for misrepresentation. I am so worried. we failed to see the discrepancy and now we are trying to correct it in the DS-320. Please share your knowledges and experiences on this. Thanks a lot.
