I'm doing my cover letter and was wondering if it's okay that I sign it even though I am the beneficiary? If I can sign it, do I put my address in Australia on it or the same US address that is on the I-129F form?

Thanks.

The K-1 documents are filed by the petitioner. It is OK that the beneficiary prepares all the documents but they are officially being filed by the petitioner, so they should sign the cover letter (even though a cover letter is not required).

Don't make it complicated.

I'm not with my fiancee currently, so having her sign it would be difficult. Would I be better off just not including a cover letter?

No, your fiancee is going to need to sign other various things even if you don't include the cover letter. I would suggest; when you're done preparing the packet mail it to her first and have her to her bits and then she can mail it off to USCIS.

She's already signed the letter of intent, all necessary forms etc during my last visit to NY but we just never got around to the cover letter because it wasn't the main focus.

Why don't you just prepare a cover letter signed by yourself, and include a checklist of what you submitted? That would be ok, and you wouldn't lose more time waiting for an original letter to be mailed.

What's important is that all the other documents that require her original signature are indeed signed. :)

She doesn't need to sign the cover letter, since you are the one sending out the petition.

The petitioner and the beneficiary are two separate individuals.

To answer about the letter, it would make sense that it comes from the person submitting the petition. There is no requirement for a cover letter and thus it is only a reference sheet. Having it come from the petitioner makes sense. You could either sign it for the petitioner or leave it unsigned.

Well, the thing that's interesting, is that the I-129F and G-325A (on the USCitizen)

must have the USCitizen's signature

Suggest, when you complete all,

that you mail it off to yer USCitizen fiance,

who will then

sign stuff

and mail it off to USCIS.

Well, according to everything I've learned on here, the package is supposed to filed by the petitioner, not the beneficiary. So in my opinion, signing the cover letter yourself, would make it look like you, the beneficiary are filing for the petition.

I filled out all our forms (I am the beneficiary) because my fiance is in school and busy and I knew he wouldn't pay as much attention to detail as I, BUT I got him to sign everything, including the cover letter. I then gave it to him to mail out from San Diego, so that it would actually be filed by him...not by me.

So, I believe you should send your fiance the complete package (minus the signature needed), get her to sign it, and then send it off herself.
