Where in the Philippines is your girl from?My fiance use to send me care package every month using "United States Postal Service" (Global Priority Mail). I live in Davao City,it usually takes 1 week for me to receive his care package. He usually use the Flat rate envelope which cost 9.50 dollars.

The last thing we sent was one of the small global priority flat rate envelopes with about 100 photos. Marlene's mother has been looking forward to seeing the honeymoon pictures and her flower gardens. We sent that 6 weeks ago and it never showed up. We'll take a new set of pictures with us and deliver them personally on our next visit.

From our experience with packages, about 2 out of 3 will get there.

I've been told that FedEx is the only "safe" way to get things to the Phil. I know that I've sent my finacee at least 15 letters, and only ONE has ever made it to her through regular mail. But when I order her flowers and they are delivered by a local delivery service, they get there. So I KNOW the address is correct. So why the postal service in the Manila Metro Area has difficulties, I don't know.

It's not uncommon for mail with western addresses to be opened in search of money.

Sorry to hear about that.So far, never have problems getting my care package with "GPM".I usually receive parcel notice from the Davao Postal Office if my package arrives and then I claim it at the Post Office showing the parcel notice I got and a valid ID to be able to get my package.

Anything going through the PI postal system is a ####### shoot. Even Priority stuff. FedEx is the safe bet but costly. I just sent an envelope with a few papers, a t-shirt and a magazine. Cost was $38.40 FedEx to Mindanao. But, it got there in 4 days. What you gonna do, this is an expensive process no matter how you slice it. Bottom line, if you are sending something you absolutely have to get there, its gonna cost ya.

neonmikey - BJZags is right! FedEx is the best way to go. I know it's not cheap, but any other way will take decades. The local post offices there combined with customs are a nightmare. Unfortunately, there is no magic pill for this situation. Goodluck!
