Hi everyone,

Does anyone here know who can write one and the same person affidavit for me? I know cparents can. But apart from parents, can it be relatives that are a couple of years younger or even friends?

Thanks very much.

When the name on your birth certificate dont match your passport for whatever reason e.g. mistakes, cultural differences with adding names after surnames etc.. one might need to get a one and the same person affidavit to prove that one is the same person.

Hmm...we've gone through K1 & AOS with a different name (well, some of the same names, some of them not...it's confusing) on passport & birth certificate. Plus my husband goes by a different name than is on anything, so all of our relationship evidence has the name he goes by. No one has said anything to us about needing any sort of affadavit.

Hi Katie & Sifa,

Thank you for the response. I have been stressing out for the past few days thinking this might cause me problems. May be you have have the answer to my question. Can you please explain what was not matching in your case? SO I can compare it to mine. In my case my Birth certificate has my first name, surname followed by my grand father name as a full name (standard for the country of my origin). My passport on the other hand has my first name and surname only(as there is no field for grand father name in the passport). So right now I am confused as what to do. Please advice. Thank you.

My husband has 5 names - 2 "western" names, his Swahili name, and then his grandfather's last name then his father's last name. He uses his father's last name as his own, and that's what I changed my last name to. Birth certificate only lists his western names & Swahili name. Passport lists 2 western names plus his father's last name. School records show his first western name, his Swahili name, then his grandfather's last name. He goes by his Swahili name which is not on his passport. NOTHING matches, pretty much. We just listed his ENTIRE name in the "other names applicant has used" blank. We haven't had any issues.

Edit: forgot to mention, on all official paperwork for immigration purposes (and once you get to the US) you'll have to use the name that appears on your passport.

You're giving me hope. Now I am thinking of listing my name as in birth certificate on Ds-230 Q.2. as it asks for other names used (I am in the process of sending packet 3). The problem is I have put None on G-325a and fiance also has put none on I-129f. How can i correct this. Will it be an issue? Thanks so much
