my lawyer said he sent my I-864 affidavit of support packet out around middle of August 2010. I paid him almost $674 for the application fee, IV bill. I haven't heard anything from him or the NVC yet. It's beginning of October, I'm growing very impatient and thinking that I might hear something by now. Am I just being paranoid or does it usually take a few months for the NVC to process and send the paperwork to the Vietnam Consulate. I would like to know anyone who petitioned CR1 their spouse have their take on this. Thanks in advance.

Our turn around time to hear back from the NVC was about 45 days (from the date. That was last year though, so it may be slightly different now.

it has taken others close to two months so in the next week or two IMO is soon...

Tomorrow is soon... :):P

...it's also misleading.

One could also make the following arguements:

45 days could also be soon...as compared to a year.

years could also be soon...as compared to a decade.

You should call NVC to make sure that they have your paperwork on file. If they said they've received your paperwork, while you have them on the phone ask them politely if they could tell you what is delaying the approval of the documents and subsequent forwarding of it to Vietnam.

If they say they haven't received the paperwork, you may want to give your lawyer friend a call...

I saw that you have filed for your spouse and it should not take that long. Usually 3-4 weeks after you sent your I-864.(assume everything go smoothly)

If you already had your interview letter, you should expected your case case forwarded to VN consulate.

i sent my I-864 little over 2 months ago, back in August. and i haven't heard anything yet. i called the nvc and the lady told me they are backed up for october, and asked me to call back the 2nd week of november. i anticipate every day. this is torcher!
