I don't mean to burst everyone's bubble, but my petition was updated yesterday as well even though I was approved back in June. We got our NOA2 dated June 28th, but the status never changed online, it always said "initial review". My fiance had his interview last week and he got his passport back from the Embassy today. So we are all the way through the process, but I just was notified yesterday by text and email that we had been approved back in June. The mass touch was just an update of the system, I think, and has nothing to do with being "touched". Obviously my petition wasn't touched, and my fiance currently has our file in the brown "do not open" envelope, so it's just an system update.

I've seen lots of people getting their hopes up about this touch on 10/3. I was just trying to put it in perspective. If you want to believe that VSC is pouring over your petition right at this second, that's your choice.

There's nothing wrong with having hope. If it makes us feel better to know our petitions were touched, even if it was just a random system update, there's nothing wrong with that. I for one, am simply glad to know that despite the lack of action in the past month or so, VSC is still there, working through our petitions. We're all hoping this means that the July group will start getting approvals soon.

Just because you got extremely lucky and had your petition approved in under a month is no reason to ruin it for the rest of us.

I'm not trying to make out that you're the enemy. Its an exciting thing to see that VSC is doing ANYTHING, even if it was just a system update. It just seemed a bit of a downer that you came in and said, ignore it, its nothing. It's not nothing. It's something, and at this point I'll take anything. I think most of us feel that way and it's nice that we can all share in the excitement. I apologize for my snarky comment, I'm obviously jealous that you got approved so fast. Who wouldn't be? But now that you're done with the whole thing, you get to come back and cheer the rest of us on through the process, not burst bubbles.

I wasn't trying to say "ignore it, it's nothing" but at the same time people put SO MUCH hope into "touches" when they don't necessarily mean what people on VJ have decided they mean through the years. Yes, a system update is good, be happy about that. But I'm a pragmatist, so when I was in that waiting stage, I didn't find speculation to be helpful to my state of mind. I posted what I did for those people out there who might not be cheered by rampant speculation. I just wanted to point out that a "touch" doesn't mean that a petition is being handled RIGHT NOW!!! but rather that a petition could have been touched, moved, approved recently and its only now been put into the system. I never received any touches, nor did I get electronic notice of my approval, it just showed up in my mailbox one day unexpectedly. So maybe, if anything, keep the hope alive that an approval could come any day, even without a touch.

Fair enough. I'm not one of those people that puts too much stock in touches. You're right, though, that some people read way too much into them. Your petition was just approved so fast that they didn't even have time to log any touches! :P

Anyway, I'm just remaining optimistic that this "group touch" means that VSC has started focusing on K-1s, rather than whatever else they've been doing for the past 2 months. I heard yesterday that the first July filer (that we know of) just got their NOA2 dated 10/1 which I take to be great news. I put way more stock in THAT news than of the group touch. :)
