Hello chaps

Just a really quick one today...

A lot of people seem to post that Tax Returns are necessary evidence for the Affadavit.

It is my uderstanding that this is correct only for self employed sponsors.

Is this correct?!

Thanks :)

Everyone sends them, better yet are the free IRS Tax Transcripts

Yes.

It is also correct that consulates and COs can request them if they want and they can hold the visa if they want to until you produce a tax return.

If you have the most recent year's tax return...why on EARTH would you not attach it? You like to risk your visa on the vagaries of the CO that day? I mean, it literally can come down to that officer just wanting to see your tax return. They don;t need a reason.

If you have it...give it. If you don't...explain why and cite the reason in the tax code.

My interview is October 18th in London.

I wonder if people have been passed without submitting a tax return.

I think it is pretty harsh - i have followed all instructions but ignored the Self Employed section as my fiancee is a high school teacher!

Any ideas?

have her SCAN and email copies of the tax returns to you and include copies of her w-2s. they do not have to be originals, copies are fine.

It does say on the form instruction that they only require either the bank letter, your employer's letter or the LAST tax return...why some of you bring the whole lot or even the last 3 years tax returns?? Has anyone who only brought as per the instructions one of the 3 had problems?

Personally I will only bring with me the last tax return from my fiance and his co-sponsor. I won't let them mess around with me: it's written black & white on the USCIS form...the whole process is already stressful enough!

Why would you not provide ALL? What part of this is difficult and why hand them an excuse?

It is NOT in black and white and the consulates can decide YOU need a bank letter and no one else does.

what about state tax returns? they only care about federal tax returns?

What about state tax returns? The purpose of submitting your tax return is as a method to demonstrate ones income... submitting a state return is just more of the same... don't need to tell them twice

moving to consulate forum where topics relating to the I-134 are suggested to be posted

YMMV

I got a question about getting the tax return from the IRS website. It says you can get a transcript for free, or get an actual copy for $57.

So my question is, will a transcript be enough to take to my K1 visa interview at the embassy? Or do we need to get an actual copy?

You only need the free tax transcript.

When they say an actual copy they mean someone goes into their archives and physically runs the papers you mailed in through the copier. That's not necessary, a computer print out from their database (That's what the transcript is) is sufficient.
