So, we FULLY understand the new rule that I-129F's and I-130's are processed together, plus the fact the K3 application is closed down in favour of the CR1, which is great news long term.

Our question now, is this:

Our I-130 has an NOA1 date of 23rd July 2010

Our I129F has an NOA1 date of 24th August 2010

In other words, we sent off the I129F just after we got the NOA1 on the I-130.

How much time has been wasted by going down the K3 route, and if time has been wasted, why has it been wasted?

I don't know about now, I can only attest to when we filed.

2 years ago when we filed, back when the K-3 was still an option, those who filed an I-129F for the K3 were approved 6 - 8 weeks after those with stand alone I-130s. Why was it delayed? We accounted it to the fact when you file the I-130, you are placed in a line to be adjudicated. When you file the I-129F, your I-130 gets pulled, married up to your I-129F and then put at the back of the line

Thanks for your response, it seems our applications were "married" up on the 30th August 2010, as they were both "touched" on that date - a good 6 weeks after our initial I-130 application.

6 weeks wasted. I wish we'd have read and digested the topics on this board before we applied...

The best thing I can suggest is keep up with your timeline and follow those with similar timelines. See when people who filed around you get their stand alone I-130's appoved and see how long after yours follows. Maybe things have changed
