Mmmm, that menu sounds yummy, Danu.

Wow. England is a long way to go for a long weekend. I hope it's a really really LONG weekend. lol. I need a few days just to adjust to the time lag, let alone turning around and coming right back. Board games are awesome. I miss having friends and family here to play board games. :(

I leave on the Wednesday and come back the Monday. I don't get jet-lag so that isn't an issue. A month ago I flew to Hungary and was fine and then 2 weeks later flew back with one layover, so many hours on a plane and +8 hours time difference, made it home and went out with a friend to the clubs here. Woke up the next morning at my usual time and then back to work the next day. My body has always been like that though.

Why is it that Canada celebrates Thanksgiving a month earlier? Is it because the harvest season is a lot shorter? Because in November 1/3 the country here is also burried in snow and I can't see them harvesting anything here in late November other then frozen dirt...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

I get to be here for Thanksgiving with my family, but that's only because my son's wedding is the day before! :P I'm hoping that next year, I'll do up a dinner for family and friends. I like the idea of celebrating twice! :)

Well I'm not going up to Canada for Thanksgiving because my parents are out of town. My mom and step dad are off to Halifax for my step dad's Navy reunion and my Dad always goes to Elliot Lake for the weekend.

Even my Parents-in-law are going to North Carolina for the weekend.

We actually have a wedding to go to on Saturday, so I'm gonna stop taking my muscle relaxants/anti-inflamatories today and hope the pain doesn't come back so I can get my drink on on Saturday in honour of the new couple AND Thanksgiving.

Oh, and I just asked my hubby over IM what he wants to do for Thanksgiving, and apparently there's a surprise in store! WOO!

Abosultely nothing planned for Canadian Thanksgiving, but it's been that way since I moved to the US. November's Thanksgiving, if I had to predict, does not look very promising, special or "festive" either.

I hope you all have a very happy, safe, and delicious Thanksgiving weekend.

Mathew said that his family doesn't celebrate it up there, but since I love me some turkey sammiches we're going to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving anyway! Now I have to go to the store and pick out the prettiest turkey, talk to it like I love it, bath it in some butter and then send it for a day in the sauna. ;)

Not just SOME explorer! It was Martin Frobisher.

The great and awesome Frobisher - or Frobbie as I like to call him. :D

I am totally kidding. I had to look it up too. Interesting story according to Wiki: he spent many years digging up gold ore and hauling it back home thinking he'd hit the jackpot but he was a few numbers off on his lottery ticket and his haul proved to be worthless. Suckah.

Whoo Hooo! I love surprises. Well, nice ones, anyway. :hehe: Looking forward to hearing what it was, Peachey!

Oh my. This is happening more and more often. That must have been very stressful for you. How did you hear about it? Did you have to negotiate the cash for keys or did they just offer it? How much time did they give you to move? ugh. Hope you have a great new house now.

I am going to Canada for the weekend we got a family emergency. I got my advanced parole on tuesday.

Wow it's been a long time since I have been on here!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

I am heading north tomorrow...a 15 hour drive one way, unfortunately can only stay 3 days so will be back in the US mid next week. This weekend is extra special because it is my 1 year wedding anniversary October 10th. I cannot believe how fast this year flew by! One minute I was worried about AOS the next...wow! First time to Canada since moving down to the US from K-1.

Need to get a new passport, hoping both borders will accept my passport with maiden name (along with marriage certificate)....have errands to run when I get to Canada...TD Canada trust wouldn't accept a name change except in person...

Anyways, everyone enjoy your turkey! ( & cabbage rolls & perogies) I know I will!

We're definitely doing Canadian Thanksgiving. We were either going to do Rabbit Pie or a Turducken Roll, I think we've decided on a Turducken Roll though, and the usual trimmings. My contribution, being a southern boy, is going to be cornbread stuffing, but other than that we're going with green beans, mashed potatoes and sweet potato baked with cinnamon and marshmallow.

Should be quite tasty, and we'll save the Rabbit Pie for another day.
