hey everyone,

just trying to get a jump on all the paperwork before the NOA2 comes in and I have a couple of questions:

1. My fiance (sponsor) works as a server and obviously a good chunk of her income comes from tip, including the tips we are over the income threshold, will this be ok?

2. My fiance also has a decent inheritance fund in a seperate account, would this be included? and if so what documents would need to go along to prove this?

3. I was considering getting a friend of ours to co-sponsor us, are friends ok? or is it only relatives that can co-sponsor?

thanks heaps!

If the US citizen meets the income and/or assets requirements then a co-sponsor would not be needed. Any US citizen or green card holder may be a sponsor. Some embassies/consulates are tougher with regard to who is a cosponsor.

If she reports tips and they show up on her tax returns and pay stubs then they can easily be included. Her inheritance may also be used if needed.

Study both the I-134 and I-864 to learn about the affidavit of support. The I-134 instructions aren't very comprehensive, but the I-864 explains a lot. You can also refer to this I-864 FAQ page >> http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3183.html
