I-751 October 2010 Filers

Hi everyone!

It feels strange being back on this forum after an extended absence where I didn't have to do anything!

But now I'm back, I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and evening getting my package for my I-751 together. I'll be ready to send it in a day or two, as soon as I can track down a friend of a friend who is a notary to sign the affidavits.

I hope to see some old faces again as the people I got to know in the K1 forums a couple of years ago return to this forum for their I-751 petition. Please say hi!

Here's the contents of the package I'm sending. I hope to have the package mailed tomorrow, (4th October). If I'm missing anything obvious, please let me know!

• Completed I-751 Form

• Copy of Permanent Resident card, (front and back)

• Copy of Social Security card, (front and back)

• Copy of US Employment Authorization card

• Copy of current US Drivers License

• Copy of passport, including copy of original K-1 Visa Insert and Entry Stamp.

• Check payment enclosed.

• Sworn affidavits by two U.S. citizens, attesting to our relationship and marriage

• Copies of the birth certificates and social security cards of the children born to Darren and Laura. (We’ve also included copies of Laura’s documents too.)

• Copy of our most recent joint tax return

• Copy of the title of our car, showing joint ownership.

• Copy of our vehicle insurance, showing both our names on a joint policy.

• Copies of several bank statements, showing a joint account held in both our names.

• Copy of a Health Insurance claim for Darren illustrating coverage for him on Laura’s account.

• Copies of household bills addressed to our home address in both names across the range of our marriage

• Copies of various property documents from when we bought our property together showing both our signatures relating to the property.

(Unfortunately Darren is not listed on the mortgage itself due to us buying the house while we were awaiting Darren’s adjustment of status to permanent resident after entering the country on a K-1 Visa. A lack of credit history and income in the United States may also have contributed to the financer’s decision. We tried several times with different companies subsequently to have Darren added to the title/mortgage without success.)

• Contained within the property documents is a copy of a check showing our joint bank account listed in both names.

• Copies of airline reservations/itineraries showing trips made together by Darren, Laura and their children.

• Copies of Christmas cards and other holiday cards addressed to us both, as well as other related items we feel may support our case

• Photographic evidence – various photos across the range of our marriage. Full details of each photo are written on the reverse side of the photos.

Thanks, and good luck to you too. I guess this is the last major step we have to do for up to ten years, unless we wish to apply for citizenship sooner.

I managed to get my affidavits done today, so off to mail the package in a few minutes. I've added my name to the list, I hope I did it properly.

Im joining this group pretty soon. I should have been a September filer, but got hung up on some other stuff. Im preparing my package now, and will hopefully send it out within the week.

Hi! I used to be known as "BulgarianBride" when I used to hang out here lots in 2008. It seemed silly to keep that name now that I am an old married woman I'm the USC and did all the work for the I-751. My husband justifies that by saying that he will have to do all the work for anything we do in Bulgaria. Fair enough.

I'm throwing my hat into the ring! Mailing my package in a couple of hours. 66 pages total. A# NOT written on every page. Our names are on pretty much every page so if there is some freak wind storm that blows through the USCIS office, the page numbers should allow them to piece it back together. Or they will send an RFE and I'll submit all the copies that I made.

I didn't include any copies of our passports, SS cards, drivers licenses (since they are from another state than the one we live now, I thought that would only confuse things) - just the green card. I included statements from various timepoints since October 2008 from FIVE different joint bank accounts, our lease, our joint taxes, joint credit card, our health insurance, car title, car registration, car insurance, joint cell phone service (from when we established it and the most recent statement), joint water bill, gym membership, ticket stubs from our two trips to Bulgaria, three affidavits (NOT notarized), six pages of photos printed 4/page spanning August 2008 to this summer - with family/friends or very recognizable landmarks so they know we were traveling together. I included one card from my mother on our first anniversary - she gave us money to go to a concert so I included the ticket stubs from the night of our anniversary. I didn't include any personal mail, although we have a ton of it, since all the official stuff has our addresses on it.

Oh, and the check. I included the check and the signed form and a signed cover letter with table of contents. And a list of our previous addresses. Whew!

I'm mailing this on the late side of the 90-day window. I'm not happy about that, but due to some travel plans we thought it was safer to send it when all that was completed. So maybe everything will work out just fine or maybe we will become a cautionary tale for others.

Well, I sent it! Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation, so I will be tracking it.

I had a momentary panic when the envelope got thrown in the bin. Did I need to check it one last time?? A bit obsessive, I think. I don't know how many times I checked it, but it was a bunch. The check was in there. It was signed. The form was signed. The letter was signed. The copy of my husband's green card, front and back was in there.

It's out of my hands now. Yay.

I am preparing my package and realized that I dont really have any solid evidence. This is what I have so far:

Copies of passport and green card (immigrant spouse)

Copy of our childs birth certificate

Two sworn affidavits by USC friends

Random pages from out cell phone bill showing family plan with both users

Front page of our 2008 and 2009 tax returns

Copies of both users on car insurance

Copy of health insurance claims showing he's on my policy

Copies of our airline itineraries from 2009 and 2010 vacations

Im trying to get a copy of something from my 401k showing him as beneficiary, and trying to find something that lists him as an authorized user on a credit card acct.

What else do I need to include? I can have a lease agreement written up if need be.

Is this enough?

lucy4 - you have lots of solid evidence so far!

Three things that I think you should add if you can:

1. YES, get a lease. I got my landlord to write one up just for this, even though we are month-to-month (from the start)
2. Bank accounts together? Print up a selection of statements spanning the time you have had them. I even highlighted things like rent, joint health insurance payment, joint car insurance payment...
3. Order the tax transcripts from the IRS. It only takes around a week or so to arrive. I've always seen that they prefer that to your tax forms. (I guess it makes sense, anyone could print up a filled-out tax form on TurboTax, or even by hand, and then not submit it to the IRS ....)

With those three things I think you cover all the basics that people recommend. Post your list out on the main board though, maybe I'm forgetting something.

Do you own a car together and/or is it registered in both of your names? That would be great to include.

Other ideas: can you get both of your names on a utility account? Or send one from you, one from him... You have photos? I gather that those are not the strongest evidence but expected. Cards sent to you? Joint memberships in a health club, video rental, automobile association?
