What every anti-tax advocate ignores is that during same period when the majority of Americans were doing well, the 50 to 60s, is when then top tier tax rate was close to 90%.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Understand what you are saying but if you did that now you would put every small business owner out of work.

Why risk so much to earn so little when they would work for a larger company earning more.

You would in essence make the most wealthy even wealthier; if they even continued doing business here.

Except Robin Hood was more like a Tea Party member....

The elite sheriff and his minions and those who supported the sheriff/"government" were the ones stealing the money...... so really Obama is more like the sheriff of Nottingham!

We live in a different world now. The days of 90% tax brackets are over - it's very easy for a company

today to incorporate somewhere else to escape punitive taxation.

What if you do? Bank robbery is illegal, taxation is not.

Grow up.

it still doesn't change what it is, as theft.

Name a country with no taxes.

No personal or corporate income taxes? I'll name three.

Nevada, Texas, Wyoming.

No personal income tax?

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wyoming.

Funny that should mention that. Texas also happens to be the largest borrower state of federal money. For every dollar they get in a federal money, they only pay 89 cents. I believe most of those states are also borrower states, relying on federal money to balance the books.

taking money from one person against their will and using it for other purposes is theft. Be it keeping it for yourself or giving it to another person.

When you or I do it, we go to jail for theft. When the government does it, it's considered to be legal and called taxation.

It's called a social contract paul. No, you didn't consent to it implicitly, but thats the great part, you have the option to opt out if you like. Emigrate elsewhere.

In today's world you really don't have the option to opt out. You can't just up and move to another country on a whim. The other country has to want to take you in as well and without taxes if you don't want to pay them.

This isn't the 1840's where land was up for grabs and there was no tax burden anywhere.

It's a much more populous world where everyone owns everything, especially on a government level and they want everyone to pay regardless of situation/use of materials.
