Hi everyone,

My wife and I filed AOS on Aug 25th 2010. It was received in Chicago on the 27th of August and we got a receipt notice on September, 2nd.

We still haven't received an appointment for biometrics. Is that normal? How long does it usually take after we get the receipt notice?

Thanks for your help!

I am the US citizen, my wife is the applicant.

Adjusting from J1 Trainee visa:

August 25th, 2010: Filed AOS package to USCIS

August 27th, 2010: Package received by USCIS

September 2nd, 2010: Received I797 for I-130, I-485, I-765

October 14th, 2010: Received biometrics appointment letter (will be on Nov 5th)

AOS interview will be on January 13th, 2011!

January 13th, 2011: Approved at the day of the interview

Next step, removal of conditions

No it's not normal honestly.. but it does happen. Have you registered for online updates? Have you been checking to see whether there's been any changes?

Ok I will call USCIS on Monday. The online case check says the follwing:

"On September 2, 2010, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or contact our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

The notice they refer to is the receipt notice I797 which says I should wait to receive a bio appt notice.

Does this mean that my case is stalled as long as we haven't done biometrics or is it still processing?

Thanks a lot

They mean the NOA1's were sent to you. You should have received the biometrics before now but they could just be a little delayed. Can't hurt to give them a call just to be sure.
