Fact: the tourist visa application process is nothing more than a lottery, for the most part. There's really no way to say, for sure, if someone will receive a visa or not, regardless of the situation.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

There is a Green Card Lottery.

There is not a Visitor Visa Lottery.

Not officially, but I think you realize I was speaking metaphorically.

My step-daughter was denied a visa so I e-mailed the embassy and explained the situation and asked them about it. Had to ask them twice, but I finally got a decent response and they told me what she needed to do at the interview. Second time was no problem and she was given a 2 year B-2 visa.

My sister just got denied too. And she is just renewing her visa coz the old one expired! She got denied 2x! She doesnt havebplans of settling here because she wants to work in Korea! She just wants to go with my mom coz my mom is old and they are going here because of my brother's wedding! I guess she it was vecauae she is still single. What did they tell you when you asked them ehy they denied ur stepdaughter and what did she have to do?

I had my interview last week and they denied my Visa. My husband is a USC. We didn't have any plans staying in the US so I want to try Tourist Visa so I can finally meet my brother in law and visit him in the US. They want me to file an immigrant visa instead. We don't want the immigrant visa so

my husband would try writing to his senator or congressman in the future.

My parents were denied, failed to establish ties to go back to the phils, even though they both have government jobs, dad works for more than 20 years, a 10-year old sister who still needs them and a-18 year old sister with 4-month old son, living with them. We emailed the embassy for explanation why those ties are not enough, and no reply.. and we emailed them again..and still no answer. I wish your sister good luck.

Just make them re-apply again , same happened with my parents who have strong ties to Egypt(kids, assets and business as well), they were rejected without given a reason, the officer even told them '' make him apply for immigration visa better for you'', they he letterly DISMISSED THEM ,

Not to go into more details I agree its like lottery, I contacted my Congressman who happend to be the White house speaker, he emailed the embassy and sent a full details letter about what happend in the first interview, we were advised to re-apply, pay another fees ,both got approved at once , no questions asked, got their visa within a week for 5 years.

Please let her re-apply and it would be good to contact your Congress man BEFORE the interview by enough time to let him do his job

Good Luck

Did you expect a reply?

Yes, we do and here's the email we received just today :). Atleast we heard from them.

This is in reply to your inquiry below regarding nonimmigrant visas.

We regret we are unable to respond to your inquiry because under United States law, visa records are confidential. Section 222(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act state in part, “The records of the Department of State and of diplomatic and consular offices of the United States pertaining to the issuance or refusal of visas or permits to enter the United States shall be considered confidential.”

The Embassy of the United States of America in Manila will respond to visa inquiries from the applicant or from the applicant’s legal representative with a signed Form G-28, Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Representative. The applicants may contact us directly at consmanilaniv@state.gov if they have an inquiry regarding their nonimmigrant visa application.

Consular officers determine from objective evidence of strong family, economic, professional, and social ties to an applicant’s home country that an applicant has no intention of abandoning his residence there. Even if an applicant superficially displays such ties to his or her home country, the consular officer is still obligated by law to deny the visa application if the officer determines that the applicant intends to abandon those ties, doubts the veracity of the ties, finds out that the applicant’s ties in the United States outweigh those in Philippines, or the officer believes the purpose of travel is not permissible under the requested visa category.

Generally, applicants who were refused nonimmigrant visitor visas may reapply (for a visitor visa) anytime. However, it is best to reapply when there are significant changes in the applicants circumstances or when there is new verifiable information that might affect the eligibility for a nonimmigrant visa. They will also be interviewed by a different consular officer. Although there is no guarantee that a new visa application will be successful, rest assured that all visa applications are given full consideration.

Sincerely,

Communications Team

Nonimmigrant Visa Unit

We also tried to contact our Congresswoman here in Hawaii, they attended to us and they need documents that show information about my parents so we are working on it now. :)

State the obvious.
