Has anybody but robertlaird's cases shown up online? Ours still won't come up.

Mine showed up after 5 days of submission (sent AOS on Oct 2, received Oct 3) and it says "On October 12, 2010, we received this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case". I'm just wondering why I haven't received my biometrics appointment letter yet. It's 30 days already since I filed AOS. Does anybody else filing AOS around Oct 2 didn't receive a biometrics letter yet? I'm getting worried...

Hey, we got ours yesterday as well  But it's not scheduled until 11/29/10. It's a little while away, and our local office (Naperville, IL) doesn't seem to tolerate walk-ins. We might try going to a Chicago location or just wait for our date. Just happy to have our letter for now, anyway :star:

Had the biometric yesterday. Everything went well and we now have a touch registering online for that day. The staff at the Rhode Island ASC office were VERY nice and helpful. Hope we hear back about our EAD soon, as my husband is currently working for a university on a temp EAD (the passport stamp from JFK) and we'd like him to be able to continue to do so. ::fingers crossed::

Why would they call it an Employment Authorization if it wasn't meant for employment? He passed the E-Verify check and the immigration officer we met with knew he was working, so I assumed it was okay.

CBP does not have the power to grant work authorization. Only USCIS does. No one really knows why JFK is still issuing those stamps, but the consensus here has been that it's not valid authorization for K-1s to work.
