Wow, that is nuts!! Hopefully, though, they saw what they needed to see and have proof enough that the relationship is real to hand down the approval post haste!!

Just quick congrats to the couples that have received their approvals, and also my thoughts and prayers for those who have not yet. I only wish I could offer some advice that would bring those approvals along quicker.

There has been alot of movement this week for us at the end of the food chain. I feel good that the next few weeks should have many of us complete.

Well I was really hoping we'd have the green card by today. I wanted to have the whole process, from petition to AOS done within a year, but I guess we're not the lucky ones. We got a response from the Senator yesterday. He included the response from CSC, which just said that we're still within standard processing times, which is SIX MONTHS from the date CSC receives the application. It's bullsh*t that they essentially restart the clock after transfer. That means we can't place a service request until June. I'm just frustrated seeing January filers getting approved while we're still waiting. I had a bad feeling from the start that we'd get lost in CSC.

Anyway I'm trying to not dwell on it, but my husband can't get a drivers license until he has his green card, so that's the biggest hold up issue for us.

/end pity party.

I'm the USC petitioner.

Wow that seams like a strange requirement. Have they shown you the requirement in writing? Could he get one in a neighboring state? Does he have or could he get an international license?

http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/drivers/applying.asp at the end of this web page it says if you have temporary status the license will be issued for the same period as the temporay status. Have you tried a different DOL office? Have you talked to a supervisor? it would seam to me his EAD and AP letter justify his right to be here and egal presence.

Wow that seams like a strange requirement. Have they shown you the requirement in writing? Could he get one in a neighboring state? Does he have or could he get an international license?

Doesn't nearly every state require you to show proof of residency? Any address he claimed in another state would be a lie.

http://www.dmv.state.va.us/webdoc/citizen/drivers/applying.asp at the end of this web page it says if you have temporary status the license will be issued for the same period as the temporay status. Have you tried a different DOL office? Have you talked to a supervisor? it would seam to me his EAD and AP letter justify his right to be here and egal presence.

VA stopped accepting EAD as proof of legal presence in September: see the press release about it. I'd also wager AP's not proof of legal presence either.

We haven't even tried to get him one yet, because I was hoping the GC would come sooner than later. He has an Irish and an international license, but I haven't added him to the insurance yet because most places want a US license.

I've read about people in other states getting by with their NOA for the I-485, so I think we'll try our luck with that, just to see. I did just find one member in VA who got by with that, but their I-94 was still valid at the time, and my husband's isn't.

I'm the USC petitioner.

I wish I had your problem, I wouldn't mind waiting if it meant not having an interview ! mine is scheduled for next week and we have to jump through hoops to go to it as my SO is away working right now, :crying: and I was under the impression that a US drivers licence was easily obtainable if you had an SSN -which I got very easily..Good Luck with it all anyway  and happy Paddys day tomorrow :)

That's crazy as we sent ours 19th October and was transferred 22nd Dec to CSC, I beleive you will hear something very soon. And I know about the drivers license thing hey , all I needed here was my EAD card and they still would not accept me in the system and then they had me as pending more info and when my GC was approved (before I knew) they notified me I could go back and get license. :bonk:

OK so we are home from the interview. Got told they will review our file and we should have a decision in 2-3 weeks...sigh! I don't think anyone got an approval this morning, everyone walked out in state of limbo. Sad!

It was the strangest interview I had ever been to. The guy was more interested in my education and comparing me to his son. Odd! Didn't want to see anything just joint information and I do believe he wanted more from us because we had been married for 2 years. We gave him everything we had including our puppies vaccination stuff because it was in both our names. He did get a little concerned/weird look (if that is the right word) at the 'bank' info we provided as it was not bank statements but account info. (I forgot to pick up bank statements from the bank) my bad!

So now we wait again :(

Sorry to hear about your interview, sounds like it went about like ours. I called yesterday and was told I have to wait till 90 days from the interview, and then of course allow another 30 days for the response. tick tock tick tock I feel your pain.
