We just got approved without an interview today. This was pretty quick. My wife received her AP and EAD last week.We filed it in October 2010 and it got transfered to the CSC on November 30,2010 and it went alot quicker than we thought it would. We are very happy it got approved without an interview so quickly. We hope other people have this same experience that we had.

Thanks for your response. Our cases seem similar so hopefully in the coming weeks we recieve the same news that we got approved without the need of an interview!

Thanks Floriannsman !

Wish I had good news to report !

Our interview is going to be re-scheduled :( ..... and for a reason that I would not have thought of in a million years !!

Our interviewer was a nice young lady and took us back to her office. As we walked in she asked Olga if she understood english and Olga said " yes ... simple english " ( .. and she does, when there is something she doesn't understand, we go to the dictionary or computer ).

She was then asked would you understand words like arrest, or conviction, or felony ? Olga looked at me as I tried to explain to her what they meant. The interviewer told me that as the petitioner I could not help her with the questions ( which is something Olga and I absolutely DID NOT expect!! )

At this point the interviewer asked if we had anyone with us that could be an interpreter, and of course we didn't. Olga and I asked several times if it would be possible to go ahead with the interview and the young lady said that she did not feel comfortable with continuing and that we will re-schedule. I asked if this was a failure or a denial and she said no, we will just re-schedule the interview and we can bring the interpreter with us next time. Talk about going from High to Low in .03 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!

Life is full of experiences, so all VJers out there ... take a little advice from our experience .... if there is any doubt of the beneficiaries' ability to understand complicated english words ... take an interpreter with you !!

So, Olga and I are back in the " waiting for an appointment letter " column .... but we do know the number and the address of an interpreter service in downtown Chicago now !

Best of Luck to Everyone !!!!

I will surely include you in my prayers that you will receive soon your next interview notice soon..I understand the waiting stage kills us..but think the bright side and consider your self lucky that your case never denied.

I am starting to get worried too as our interview will be next week.

Thanks for posting your review - quite the opposite from mine a week ago at the same location

The IO we met with was very intemidating and didnt seem interested to listen to even the answers to question he asked us. He asked my husband how we met, as he was answering the IO cut him short or kept writing not actually paying much attention. We too had pictures album of the originals we had submitted plus new ones he didnt even ask for them - the attorney kinda pushed it on him and he just flipped through like looking through a boring book. Although we had all evidence still ended with no verbal word of approval or denial instead he handed us an RFE for traffic case we had no idea would be related to the AOS. T our surprise we got approval of the I-130 dated on the interview day but arrived this past Monday - still have nightmares of the IOs face :-( just looked mean to me.

Congrats to those who have gotten their green cards ordered! Hopefully that means ours will be coming through any day now.

And FYI, regarding the topic of getting driver's license, yes it seems to vary state-to-state. VA used to give one if you presented EAD, but they recently changed that in September, so we have to wait until my husband gets his green card before he can apply for the license.

I'm the USC petitioner.

Gah, that sucks!!! We definitely must have dealt with different IOs, then. While we were in the waiting room, I was too nervous to do anything but people watch, and I saw a couple of the IOs come out of door 2 and greet the couples/families they would be interviewing, and a couple of them looked like they could easily be the mean type. Good thing you had a lawyer there or else they might really have tried some crazy stuff.

Well I knew it was early, 23 days before I should have called for my wife's and stepson's EAD's, but I did today. Called the Call Center and got the same old run around that we all get a person that uses a computer to find the answer to our questions (wait 30 days then we can do something) , so this time I finally asked to talk to the next person higher up had to wait 30 minutes to talk to this person but got a good answer to my question.

This person informed me that the card had been printed on 10 Jan 2011, so it should be here in the next couple days, weather permits darn snow and ice. Then I can't wait to deal with the Social Security Office again at least I am able to walk there and save gas lol.

Hopefully our application can get approved quickly as yours! My husbands case was transferred to CSC on December 6, 2010. Who else has had this experience of getting immediately approved without an interview?

By the way, what exactly happens after AOS is approved in California ( without an interview ) ?
