Thanks Floriannsman !

Wish I had good news to report !

Our interview is going to be re-scheduled :( ..... and for a reason that I would not have thought of in a million years !!

Our interviewer was a nice young lady and took us back to her office. As we walked in she asked Olga if she understood english and Olga said " yes ... simple english " ( .. and she does, when there is something she doesn't understand, we go to the dictionary or computer ).

She was then asked would you understand words like arrest, or conviction, or felony ? Olga looked at me as I tried to explain to her what they meant. The interviewer told me that as the petitioner I could not help her with the questions ( which is something Olga and I absolutely DID NOT expect!! )

At this point the interviewer asked if we had anyone with us that could be an interpreter, and of course we didn't. Olga and I asked several times if it would be possible to go ahead with the interview and the young lady said that she did not feel comfortable with continuing and that we will re-schedule. I asked if this was a failure or a denial and she said no, we will just re-schedule the interview and we can bring the interpreter with us next time. Talk about going from High to Low in .03 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!

Life is full of experiences, so all VJers out there ... take a little advice from our experience .... if there is any doubt of the beneficiaries' ability to understand complicated english words ... take an interpreter with you !!

So, Olga and I are back in the " waiting for an appointment letter " column .... but we do know the number and the address of an interpreter service in downtown Chicago now !

Best of Luck to Everyone !!!!

Oh no! That stinks!!! But it is understandable why they would want you to re-schedule in that case. At least they didn't deny the case outright, and hopefully they will get back to you very soon with a new interview date in the very near future.

Congratulations everyone on approved interviews & Good luck to the upcoming, rescheduled ones !

No updates for us since our case was transferred to California.

Leenie, I saw your husband was asked by a IO for the state ID  Before the interview, was he even able to apply for one ? My AP & EAD are approved already, does my current immigration status allow me to have the state ID ? If so, where can I get more information on this matter ?

I guess my husband could have gotten his state ID, but it just never occurred to us. The IO made it sound like we could have gotten my husband a state ID with his social security number only, but I don't know the actual facts. In Illinois, state IDs are issued at the DMV, so maybe you should check with the DMV website for the state you live in.

BUT if your case was transferred to CSC, you probably won't have an interview anyway, and so it won't matter. I'd say you don't need to worry much about it.

Thanks for your congratulations!!

On January 11, 2011, we ordered production of your new card

AOS approved! w00t!

Much faster than I expected.

Wow, that WAS really fast. Congratulations to you!!!

Yeah, I was really surprised myself.

Just thought I'd throw in my $0.02 here.

I went to DMV here in New York City to try to take the Driver's Licence test.

I brought a lot of documentation. The guy told me that they can't issue a Driver's Licence nor an ID to me because my I94 had expired.

It's stupid, but he said my status right now is "applied" not "approved". With my I94 still valid I was "approved" and could have gotten a driver's licence.

I asked him if I could come back when I had my EAD but he said he'd need to see my Green Card before he could let me take the test.

Rules might be different elsewhere though. Just thought I'd share that.

I couldn't really figure out how to multiquote. Sorry.

K & M : Thank you for sharing your experience, it helped, you answered my question ! I believe the rules here in Wisconsin are similar.

We just got approved without an interview today. This was pretty quick. My wife received her AP and EAD last week.We filed it in October 2010 and it got transfered to the CSC on November 30,2010 and it went alot quicker than we thought it would. We are very happy it got approved without an interview so quickly. We hope other people have this same experience that we had.
