Next step you will need the Social Security Number with card in hand you can reply. The Social Security office said it takes 10 days for the Homeland Security Computer to update. For my daughter we were able to get the card production going and received it in about a week. To change the name on my wifes card is a work in process. She had a card issued several years ago. Tried to update the name with the Marriage Lisc the first business day after the wedding and was told I could not as my K-1 Finacee was now out of status as married. Still waiting on the wifes new card with proper name.

Good Luck and thanks for the well wishes on our Interview

Um, say what? Hehe.

I already have a Social Security card. (I got that like 3 weeks after point of entry as a K-1)

I didn't change my name.

Do I need to get a new card?

If you already have an SS card you don't need to get a new one. My husband will be applying for one that doesn't have the restriction about not being able to work without DHS authorization, but not until he's got the green card. The SS card you have, along with the EAD, is proof of your eligibility to work. Don't stress yourself!

I am just trying to get all of my wifes documents on the married name. When she starts her job I would like all the documents in order. Only a personal preference not a requirement.

My wife being form Colombia has two last names. The previous social security card had only one of the two last names. The lady at social security wanted to know why the names did not match. Just trying to get a clean paper trail.

Dear All,

Our interview ( AOS Interview) is coming up in two weeks and I started consolidating all the documents needed as stipulated on the interview letter that we received.

Now, it makes me confused on this part:

" If you ever been arrested, bring the related Police Report and the original or certified Final Court Disposition for each arrest, even if the charges have been dismissed or explunged. If no court record is available, bring a letter from the court with jurisdiction indicating this".....What this means for?? I am guessing that they are referring to the Police Clearances which I already submitted during my K-1 application all countries that I've stayed..though after the interviewed original Police Clearance never returned to me and I guess they are all in the " Sealed Enveloped" which we normally turned over at the Immigration Officer at the Port of Entry..but I always had a photo copy for personal reference.

Any one can help me on this matter? I would really appreciate all your kind reply.

Thnaks in advance!

On the 20th of December I sent a letter to Lee's Summit, MO to update our phone number, I had also asked about EAD status so I could get stepson's SSN. Well today I got a letter from them saying the EAD application was approved on 5 Jan 2011 (well like I said the other day, I had received e-mail that it was approved), and received all the documents that I sent on the 20th of Dec.

Well here is my question this letter was sent back to me on the 6th of Jan, in this letter it said that I should make a infopass if I had not received Approval Notice (I assume they mean a I-797) or Document (Employment Card) I figure to wait a couple more days for eisther.

Anyone that has been approved already did they receive one of the 2 items or both after approval?
