Yes, I thought us Canucks were the friendliest kind..well most I guess. :thumbs:

Some just take themselves too seriously. It is so draining this huge wait on us all. That's life though, and it was our choice to do this.

My SO lives 5hrs away, it could be way worse. I'm taking next Thurs/Fri off from work and making it a long weekend to spend with spouse, since Monday is our Thanksgiving holiday..can't wait!!!

Sometimes I feel like just going to live in the US for 6 months since we can, but I just started a new job...and well..i'm loving it!! Someday i'll have to tell them i'm leaving to live in the USA, that will be sad, but I'll be happy to be finally together.

We all have good days and bad days in this wait, but it could be worse. Our loved ones could be serving overseas and well..we'd not be together for even longer. I'm trying to look on the bright side of things!

I have to say that I have asked some dumb questions before, to find out moments later that the answer is right under my nose. I am also a very nervous person so i tend to confirm everything. although I tried not to ask too many stupid questions. haha

Any time I've seen anyone posting a question as a joke, they get ripped apart. Hence, my opinion of our unspoken rules stands. Sorry if you disagree.

Been here since 2004 and that hasn't happened nor has it ever been a rule!! As I said before lot of the people with a lot of knowledge no longer post here, wonder why!! Not the same enjoyable experience as it used to be! And yep, not a big deal if I do not post, I really don't have a lot to offer,lol but the ones that did, had a great amount to offer, oh well, life goes on!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I never said it was a rule in the usual sense...I said it was unspoken because every time I've seen posts where the OP posts something and later says it was a joke, they get torn apart. We must read different threads because I've definitely seen it more than once in my 10 months of hanging around here.

There are lots of knowledgeable people around and others who I'm sure will become knowledgeable in time.

Does anyone know how long the Police Clearance Checks are good for, according to the Montreal Consulate? I got one done in May for an employer and I'm wondering if I should get another one done for the interview. Also, it was completed by my local police station and states that "a Canada wide search was completed...," do I need to get one completed by the RCMP?

Met in 2004 at a Dave Matthews Band concert, started dating November 2005, engaged February 2009 and married November 14, 2009. Together in the US on March 19th 2011

CR-1 journey

USCIS: (170 days)

2010-03-27: I-130 sent

2010-09-23: NOA2

NVC: (93 days)

2010-10-06: NVC Case Number assigned

2011-01-05: SIF and Case Completion!

2011-02-15: Medical in Toronto

2011-03-07: Interview approved (335 days from NOA1)

2011-03-10: Passport received

2011-03-19: POE - Buffalo, NY

2011-03-28: SSN received

2011-03-31: USCIS Welcome

2011-04-05: Conditional Green Card received

2012-11-30: Notice to file I-751 received

2012-12-12: I-751 (Remove of Conditions) sent

2013-08-16: Conditions removed. 10 year Permanent Resident Card received

good for 1 yr!! and the ones from local police forces are fine.
