Believe me, IF there was a way EVERY BODY and their dogs would be doing it!

You think we LIKE waiting and being separated from our spouses for the fun of it, or for our health?!

We all hate[d] it just as much as you do, we all feel your pain.

The only thing that you can do to speed up your process is ELECTRONIC NVC processing.

But that has nothing to do with your interview, only one of the stages in the process.

Unfortunately, lots of waiting ahead. =(

PS - Working with a senator to get your interview date pushed up DOES NOT WORK.

I contacted my senator's office (a good family friend is his chief of staff). I didn't even want to speed up my interview, I just wanted to get answers as to why Montreal didn't assign a single CR-1 interview this summer.

His office got NOWHERE with Montreal as well. He kept calling me to tell me how frustrated he was with their operation, and that he gets better responses from 3rd world countries than he did from Montreal.

So your only option is to just join and "waiting" party.

Montreal does not assign the interviews for cr-1//ir-1--NVCC does that, and i'm pretty certain there was interviews! VJ represents just a small fraction of people that are undergoing this process. There have been others that have had success with contacting their congress person when they are outside the acceptable time lines! Would be a new thing if one could trust an gov't official, lol Who knows what they did---they sure don't want to take the blame--blame means loss of votes!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I wanted to write the President and see if he was aware of the cruel and unusual punishment that immigration puts on Americans and Canadians that marry.

My husband was opposed.

el oh el..talk about a loaded question.

uscis states that if due to an error on their part they will expedite the petition. they DO NOT even practice their own rules, if they did i would not have waited well over a year for my interview. and not even my congressman could do anything about it.

this is a touchy subject, as there have been military couple who did not get much of an expedite. i would tread carefully and do not be surprised by the replies you have received.

honestly, if you are only in the noa1 stage, sorry to say, but "suck it up" and wait like everyone else has to for the NOA2. getting expedited is nearly impossible. maybe you should go read the requirements on the govt site.

OH yeah..nothing like asking a question in JEST and people taking it seriously..PEOPLE CHILL!!!!!!! I know it's a long wait, I know lots of others have been waiting a lot longer than we have.

The reason I asked was that I had read people contacting a senator or congress person to look into the case at the USCIS level and some having some success, others not so much. So, it was a curiosity question and totally trying to be light hearted..I guess some people here have thin skin here and probably have no sense of humour...carry on VJ'ers...

Sorry to say but this is not the place for a jest question. People's lives are on hold. If you expected half, if not all of the community to NOT take this seriously, then you might want to think before posting this type of question.

Wow, it is a sad state in the CDN forum, I can see why many no longer post here. In all fairness he asked an ok question, and people jump on him! Not everyone comes to VJ daily or worries about being apart, lives doesnt stop, it continues! Best of luck in ur tyravels Tri_gear!

Hi,

I think we all feel distressed after a long wait, not meaning to jump on anyone. Hopes and dreams are on hold. Nothing out of the ordinary has held up our file. Bad timing, wrong persons desk where it was buried under files. The cost emotionally and monetarily rises with each passing month. In the biggerpicture of life and problems itsan inconvenience. I'm sorry if you felt jumped on with your question. Hopefully things will speed up and actually most here are good people who are supportive and have a sense of humor.that's how you survive this process- eh everyone! Sorry, excuse us eh! Lol

You are right Jewel about everything! Such a smart lady lol. Yes I believe most of us here have a good sense of humor but we all go through bad days. Most of us were/are waiting quite some time to finally be at the stage where we can go "HOME". I am 18 days away from my interview and yet I am still scared that I could get ap or something, imagine having to wait even longer? BOO!

Jewel Hang in there, its the beginning of the month and they should start to hand out interviews soon! Although most people are now being able to do it online (why didn't we get to?) You should have a date for November I think and im sure you will feel so much better for it to be almost over. Keep in touch and lets us know when you get a date, seems like they schedule when they want, I found out on sept 15th. Good luck all!! :)
