Loto,

864 questions for you. I am staying with my parents now, zero income for me last year, a whole lot for them, and they will cosponsor. So they use the 864a? And I use the 864?

Also, they previously cosponsored someone, but their income is quite high. Is this a problem?

Jon

Jon

Jon,

It is not a problem as long as your parents make high income. Yes, they will file I-864A and you will file I-864 since all of you guys' living address is same. In fact, the income of sponsor and joint sponsor can be combined in this case.

While computing the household, include previously sponsored immigrants too - If the AOS contract is still "effective". That means, previously sponsored immigrant has not become U.S citizen, or not earned 40 credits or not abandoned his/her green card etc.

Silly followup - it doesn't make any difference that it is my mom and stepfather (not actual father) in terms of using this 864a, right?

Hi everyone.

On Monday I emailed my DS230 packet to the nvcINQUIRY address, I then received the auto reply and another reply saying they were working on it. Then today we got an email saying the payments have all gone through (we knew that from the website) and to email the packet to nvcELECTRONIC. Hubby and I talked about it, and I ended up forwarding my original email to the electronic address, with a brief message explaining the situation, and I apologized for any confusion I may have caused. It auto-replied, and it said something about sending multiple emails can adversely affect the processing of our case. I am thinking I just sort of jumped the gun on Monday and that it goes to the same place eventually anyway and it won't be a big deal. Did I screw up, or is this just a small glitch? Tell me your thoughts. Thanks! ~C

Did you do the online DS-230 (DS-260) or the paper DS-230?

I can't still pay AOS or IV fee on the State dept. site. :( Haven't received an email yet. Maybe today. I might give NVC a buzz later today to ask.

And congrats to everyone who moved up another step on the ladder. :)
