Hey you all, how long do you think before I should start calling the NVC? I was approved on Saturday, so I don't know if they actually forwarded it on Saturday or they will today.

Also, my lawyer sent me this message after my I-130 was approved:

"Soon you will receive correspondence from the NVC which will ask you to pay the fee bills on-line (approximately $470). If we receive the correspondence before you, then we will forward it to you in order to complete payment. 2-3 days after payment is received, you will be able to print out the “Fee Bills” and forward them to us, along with your co-sponsor’s 3 most recent pay stubs. I will then forward all of the forms and documentation to the NVC so that the US Embassy in Israel can schedule your wife for an interview."

Is he essentially saying after I pay the bills, I print out the confirmation and give it to him, and he does the rest? Is there any special procedure I need to take in contacting the NVC since I have my lawyer as my choice of agent?

Asad- Well, for those who aren't using lawyers...there are some other steps involved. Did you fill out and submit the form I-864 to your lawyer and the supporting tax information for yourself and the tax information for your co-sponsor and their I-864 that is signed?

Then there is also the DS-230 which has to be filled out and signed (There are 2 parts...the 1st part ONLY is signed by the foreign spouse...the 2nd will be signed at the interview). Plus with the DS-230 there are civil documents that need to be submitted. So assuming that all of those things have been handed over to the lawyer...you should be good to go as they say after paying the bills.

You can always call and listen to the AVR (the voice recording that plays when you call the NVC number) to see if they have received your case and if they have entered your information in to their system. I'm not sure about the talking to the operator part. You should be able to do that as well. Since your lawyer is your choice of agent...they should have filled out a form so that you don't need to contact NVC to give them your information.

I feel like I am missing something else from the list of stuff when involved with a lawyer. I'm sure someone will come along and correct any mis-info stated here.

Kim- It doesn't matter than your husband is there and that he will be doing the majority of the footwork for this step. You can have him designate you as the choice of agent in the DS3032 e-mail that he will be sending off from his e-mail account after you receive your case number. The majority of the correspondence with NVC will be through e-mail to both of the e-mail addresses that you give the operator on the day that you receive your case number (which you will have to specifically talk to an operator to update your and your husband's e-mail addresses). I hope you get your case number soon!

We are using a lawyer and he was automatically assigned as our agent. I suggest calling the NVC once you get ur case # and giving them yours&your spouse's e-mail for communication (if you wait for regular mail it will take forever). We received both AOS and IV bills at the same time and the current amount is 88$+404$(unless something changed in the past week). Our payments cleared the next day and we printed out the barcoded cover sheets. However, we agreed with the lawyer to send the AOS&IV packages ourselves since that saves some time(at least the one to send ur lawyer all the dox they need). The petitioner should fill out the I-864 form and the beneficiary the DS-230 (part II not signed). If you have already sent all the civil dox to your lawyer (marriage, birth certificate, police/court records etc.) then you cant send the packages urself. If you haven't, I suggest you consult with the attorney and see if you can do the package sending part - saves time, believe me! Keep in mind that we did send him the DS-230 and the I-864 via e-mail so he can correct mistakes.

Update (because it is Sunday and I said I would): The uncle makes enough alone so while he filed married, I will just be going off of his I-864. If they require the aunt's info then I will find out and have her sign that when she gets back in town (next month). He said that he would fill it out tonight and I have tried calling but no answer. So I will try again tomorrow. Looking ok so far.

Yes....your best bet is to read some peoples timeline from September and you will get a rough estimate of about how long it took them good luck
