Hi Guys,

Firstly let me apologize for having not been on this forum for a while. Am still in India and having a good time here.

My wife had her interview yesterday at the Chennai Consulate and her visa was approved.

Her interview was at 8:00 AM. We reached the consulate at 6:30 AM and was called in at around 7:40 AM and she was given a token.

She went in and waited for around an hour for her interview with the Indian ICO.

She was called by the Indian ICO around 8:45 AM and she was asked if she needed a translator. She said yes. I had asked her

to get a translator as I wanted to make sure the accent wasn't an issue.

He asked her for the documents she had and she gave him the phone logs, tax documents and our travel/stay together in India. He skimmed through the phone logs and gave it back to her. He said the travel docs are not required and gave it back to her. He specifically looked at the tax document for 2009 and he removed the w2 and other papers from the file which was given to him. He also asked her if she had her album but did not ask to see it. He asked took the medical reports but asked her to remove the X-ray from it. She opened the cover, removed the x-ray and gave him the other medical records.

The Indian ICO asked her the following questions,

1) what is your full name ?

2) Who does you husband work for and what does he work as ?

3) Where is he right now ? Is he in India or US ? when did he come to India ?

4) What is his DOB ?

5) How do you know him ?

6) Where do you live now ?

7) Do you have your birth certificate & marriage certificates ? She said they should be with him as it was already

submitted.

8) Did you fill the form (Ds-230 form) yourself ? she said yes. He asked her why would you need a translator if you can fill the form yourself. She said she was capable of reading and filling the form herself but she wanted a translator as she was not very fluent in english and he was ok with the answer.

He asked her to sign the DS-230 part 2 and asked her to wait.

She had her finger prints taken in another 15 minutes and waited for about 45 minutes for the American ICO to call her.

She took the oath with the American ICO and the following questions were asked by the American ICO,

1) What is your full name ?

2) When did you get married ?

3) How do you know your husband ?

4) Did you get married on your own accord or otherwise ?

5) Where did the marriage happen ?

6) Asked for the album and asked her to show the "Solemnizing" pictures. He looked at the pics smiled and said his birthday

was the same as our wedding day.

He said Congratulations, Your visa has been approved and gave her the original birth certificate and marriage certificate back. He also took the right thumb finger print again.

She was out by 10:20 AM.

Congratulations on your Approval    wonderful news :star: Have a safe trip back to US and I wish you a long and happy life together.

Today I went on lunch break at 9 AM. Because I wanted to go to the hospital where my mom is starting here out-patient therapy. Today is the first day. She was there with my father and my two sisters. Suddenly she looked at my sister and said she looks pale. She should drink some Gatorade. My sister was a bit ill the yesterday. So I went to find some Gatorade at the hospital. I went to the nearest counter and asked the girl if she sold any. She said no. I asked her would the cafeteria have any. She said that they might have some but cafeteria closed only 8 minutes ago. I asked her where's the cafeteria anyways. She pointed toward a hallway and said keep walking through there and it's going to be on your left after a while. By then I was looking at a bottle of green Sprite. I wanted that. Only when I was handing her my credit card to pay did I look at her face. OH MY GOD! WHAT A FRIGGING CUTE BABE! It took every nerve in me to resist the urge to say "Please don't mind. But you're absolutely the cutest." I had to remind myself that I'm married and there was no point in complimenting a girl if i cannot at least go out on a date with her.

Speaking of dating, here's one advice for picking up girls. In case you guys ever found yourself in that situation again. Be blunt, firm, and honest. You don't need anything else. And for havens' sakes compose your posture. Even if you're a ugly ogre a good posture is going to instantly make you a 5 from a 4. I used to work at pharmacy and s Peruvian girl came in to buy some #######. This was college-years I'm talkin' about. Mind you. My exact words were to her: "YOU LOOK SO ****ING HOT." The next day we were out on a date. :P But she was almost fanatically Catholic. So it was over before it started.

This story is from just 5 months ago. A few days before Ramadhan '10, I was visiting NYC with few friends. We were waiting to get on the Staten Island Ferry. There were so many hot girls. My friends were going wild but they were so shy. What can I say. Country bumpkins is what they are. I walked up to a random girl and told her she's cute. One of my friend would like to take a picture with here. Haha! She agreed. My friend was nervous as hell. He could've gone on a date. Oh well. Fast forward to the next day. We're at Jackson Heights. Just chillin', watching Indian people do and be Indian people thing. Obviously where I live there aren't many desi people. Thus desi girls. My Bangladeshi friend was so excited because trains are stuffed with people and a hot girl touched him accidentally. People bump into people in the sardine cans. Right. So he was laughing and generally acting all I'm-a-playa type thing, looking at girls and commenting on their hotness beneath his voice.

I'm married so I'm all being conservative and not partaking. But you could tell hordes of girls in salwar-kameez knew what we were doing. Minus me, of course. Three girls were walking in front of us after passing us. One of them, wearing a white dress, turned around and looked at me. It was more than a glance. A block later she turned around looked at me again. Then we took a left and they kept walking straight. A few minutes later. The same girls are behind us. Crossed again. Looked back again. This continued for a whole half-an-hour near 35th-73rd Street. In the image below, I was right where the gray crate is. The girl turned around to look at me. She was a Bangladeshi girl. I blurted out: Dekhia ar lav nai. Amar biya hoi-geche. (No point in looking. I'm already married.) And that was the last time I saw her. It feels nice to know that I'm still attractive.

Moral of the story: NYC is awesome. So is confidence and a bit of jackas*ery.

Most domestic flights are at least 10/20 minutes late. So he's going to end up with 3 or so hours to do POE stuff. Plus he knows English. He won't get lost. If he misses the flight, the can take the next one. One you get started on POE, it's over in 30 minutes. It's just the line. That's the bad part. Especially if multiple international flights land at the same time. But he'll be fine.

I believe that there is enough time :bonk:

It will be tight, Tab.

Ask him to get out the plane and be in the immigration line immediately.

POE has 2 parts - first by the regular officer and then in the secondary room. My wife's process in JFK was completed in 10 min. It took more time to collect the checked in luggages.

How much time needed to report at the gate for domestic? Isn't it 30 min or less?

But it should be fine, I think.

It will be tight, Tab.

Ask him to get out the plane and be in the immigration line immediately.

I think so too Loto

On my last trip to China, on the return trip at LAX, it took me 2 hours from the time I got off the plane to get up to the boarding gate of my next flight. My connecting flight was with Delta, what a mess. Maybe Chicago is more organized.

I hope Chicago is organized as well  I know that thay tram that takes passangers from one terminal to another so that will help as well.

Tab, due to the snow, checked in luggage collection took almost 1.5 hours, but this was in parallel with immigration timing. Otherwise, it should have done under an hour.

Also, ask him to complete customs declaration form in the flight itself.

10 siblings - no wonder - that's why his stress :D
