786india - yes, my case was completed last night. When I spoke with NVC operator last night after getting SIF, he told me that my case has just been completed and the AVR this morning also said "Your case has been completed on 12/15".

asad - It's just matter of couples days. You'll get it in no time now.

BTW guys,

I am not that excited for my SIF and CC.

I was hoping for December interview before I got RFE. When I got RFE I had to kiss my December interview hope good bye and hoping for January interview, but when I spoke with an NVC operator last night he told me that January Interview list has been already closed for USEM Nepal and NVC will start scheduling for February during the first two weeks of January only.

I was really really hoping for January interview. :(

I completely agree RFE are a killer but be happy it something that you can fix immediately some RFE could take months to fix then one is screwed.

@Malvika February is just around the corner. You will get an early date.

Congrats to everyone who is making progress - Malvika, Miami-Boy...I know I've missed more the one person. I haven't been around as much, kinda sick here with a stomach bug, yuck. But anyway, glad we are mostly all moving a long. HoustonApollo, my money is on a foolish bureaucratic error, and as much as it sucks (and believe me, if it were me, it would eat me alive) I feel certain that it will get resolved in a relatively short time frame once the mail is actually on someone's desk.

Some people have been taking the medical as soon as they get their NOA2 - using/substituting the NOA2 for the interview letter.I too was planning to do that but decided to wait.

I do not know for your consulate but for my wife consulate the medical is good for 6 months - meaning that they can take the medical up to 6 months before the interview, but I do not think that this is a wise idea, it is better to take the medical closer to the interview.

I would say it is ideal to have the medical done within 1 or 1 1/2 months to the interview.

Thanks for the detail information thekfc. I am also thinking to go for medical before 2-3 weeks of interview date, but then I also learnt from the embassy website that we need to have interview appointment letter in order to go for the medical.

malvika,

I just found out something new today about schedule interview date. Each embassy has capacity for taking interview for Immigrant visa. DOS has a slot box who NVC put the case number according to each date. Once it fills up, NVC got a message from DOS that they are unable process schedule visa interview for the recent month. This is what the message they told me when i called this morning!!!!!!

But ofcourse it will vary if someone request for expedite the interview date, then Embassy has to get spot for applicant.

Basically your statement is trying to elaborate that It is DOS who coordinates with USEM abroad for interview date, right?

I got the same message when I was waiting for an interview date. The embassy allocates certain dates for NVC to assign the intervews for IV visa immigrants. NVC in turns sets the dates based on the capacity the embassy can handle in that month. The remaining dates are for K-1 and non-immigrant visa applicants to use.

Malvika,

I would like to say count your blessings. For some of us, especially in Ghana when we complete this process at NVC only God knows when our spouses will get an interview. So I encourage you to see this as being almost done. After all, two months is not that far away than say 10 or 12 more months for some of us. :(

Malvika,

I would like to say count your blessings. For some of us, especially in Ghana when we complete this process at NVC only God knows when our spouses will get an interview. So I encourage you to see this as being almost done. After all, two months is not that far away than say 10 or 12 more months for some of us. :(

oh I didn't know, does it take really that long for scheduling an interview in Ghana? The Embassy must be very busy. Well scheduling an interview date completely depends on how busy is USEM abroad. We have some of the luckiest folks here who got interview date really early after case completion at NVC. Anyway, thanks for your encouragement agynyame :D
