Just checked my email. Got a letter from NVC saying that the interview has been scheduled for 8 AM on Jan 11, 2010 at Chennai.

Chennai interview normally happens in 1.5 months from NVC CC. So, it is pretty normal in your case, but 4 or 5 days early. Considering the fact that holidays (Christmas, New Year), it is definitely 1 week ahead.

Your next steps

1) VFS office visit 2 to 3 weeks before the interview date to pay Rs.387 and get the VFS receipt. I think your nearest VFS will be Chennai or Cochin. But you will prefer Chennai

2) Complete the medical at Apollo Heart Center at Chennai. This can be done at any time now since you have interview appointment letter ready. Only catch here is lady applicants must be out of their menstural cycle to schedule the medical.

3) With VFS Receipt, Sealed Medical envelope and all other required and supporting documents, proceed for the interview

Also, visit Chennai Consulate website for the latest up to date information.

Now you are officially out of NVC and all correspondence will be with the Consulate.

One thing you can do now - Contact NVC operators (multiple) and DOS line to clearly get the shipment of all you packets out of NVC building. This way you can track the DHL shipment of your packet. They basically form a batch and ship to the Consulate. Track it.

I read in another thread just now, one guy's packet has not reached Pakistan Consulate and interview was today. So, they postponed it.

Seems like a photo finish for me especially given the fact that am flying out tomorrow. In fact I didn't want the interview in December as I have other activities planned and Jan 11 seems perfect to me.

Now you know that NVC's say that they schedule interview date between 2nd and 3rd week of the month is bullshit

That's the standard message like "your case will be completed in 6 to 8 weeks" even 1 day before the SIF

Yes svenkat, 3 to 4 hours for immigrant visa interview over there.

The reason is she handed over her cell to the driver since it is not allowed in the Consulate. Now, she has to come out and locate the guy to get the cell and call me.

MIL and daughter are in the guest house. She alone went with the driver.

Ya..that is a pain. There is no parking close by. Hopefully she has instructed the driver to park at a particular place. Just locating the driver and asking him to come there can take an hour
