NVC FILERS - FOR October - 2010

Anyone who has experiences with tax, help me out. Can I mail a copy of W7 (the form you use to apply for ITIN) anytime of the year or do I have to file it with tax returns? I want the ITIN before I'm ready to file my 2010 tax so I can file electronically. I don't want to do paper tax return. First of all, it takes about 4 months to process compared to 3 weeks when filed electronically. And those IRS workers always make mistake with paper filing. I should have thought of this question on a week day. But no, I had to think of it on a week end. IRS and local IRS office is closed now. I'm going to ask them tomorrow.

I would really like to get my refund ASAP. Yes. That's right. Imma be getting a refund. I didn't take exemption after marriage. So over-paid.

Based on my experience, ITIN will be provided as part of tax filing. Paper filing to Austin, Texas with tax returns and W-7 with its supporting document.

Also, most online software will not recognize the ITIN and will reject the transmission at the end.

Are you serious about the second part? In that case, FML. I was. This year would the first year when I'm done done with taxed on January 5th. This is so not like me. Do you think my wife will be here by April 15th, 2011 and her SSN also on her hand? Maybe it will be better if I put off filing taxes until then. I'm going to have to call TurboTax tomorrow to make certain they don't accept ITIN. Also, IRS. I have way too many things to do in the next 3 days.

I just got the check list email now. LOL. #######. They already scanned the DS230. NVC's Email system is so f'd up it's not even funny. They need to upgrade their exchange server.

Yep, both our AOS & IV package were inputted into the NVC system on the same day. Now let's see if NVC give us a CC on the same day

Check with Turbotax CSR too.

When I filed taxes in 1999 using Turbotax, ITIN was not accepted. Now, 11 years passed, so tax software may be smart emough to check ITIN database too.

When I filed taxes in 2007, ITIN was not given separately. I was advised to file it with the taxes with W-7, and they will assign the ITIN and process the taxes.

Now, your best bet is your wife will be here in Jan. In a month, she'll have her SSN. So, you can file taxes in March with her SSN.

Finally the case was completed on the 20th.. SIF!!! Called NVC this morning and they said most likely a january interview. So let's hope it is the beginning of January...

Ditto! Just got the checklist email at 9:45 pm last night. Could you imagine if we didn't have VJ as a resource? We'd be driving ourselves crazy!!!

www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov under the Applicant Document Processing link.

We urge you to send in the DS-230 form(s) and required civil documentation for each traveling family

member in one package to the National Visa Center (NVC). Sending the information in separately may

cause delays in the processing of the case.
