The NVC advise to address emails to PI supervisor sue in specific cases, however it is becoming a fact that emails appear to be answered more quickly when addressed to this 'individual'

Whether PI supervisor sue is her first, last name or if it is now a specific department, Ive no idea, but it is advisable to address this in the subject line.

Is it because you pushed thru' Sue, your case got reviewed quickly and sent to embassy for interview or is it that the consulate (chennai here) will always decide the date of interview instead of NVC ?

I understand that DOS comes in to picture after the packet is mailed to the foreign embassy.

Let me nail it down. Since I pushed the case, NVC forwarded to the Consulate, that's why Consulate is going to schedule the date for me.

If I had not pushed, NVC would have scheduled the interview date, but it would have taken the normal path - 1 to 2 weeks for the package entry and another 1 to 2 weeks for the review.

You are right. NVC is the one schedules the interview, provided if it is normal path.

For expedite path, it is the Consulate who schedules the interview. My case fell under expedited path.

I got the details from DOS line and talked to NVC based on that information.

Loto - question, did you push re your expedite reasons at the NVC level, or did you just poush them as hard as you could regardless? I remember you tellling me about your expedite and reasoning, do you think that had a bearing on your case, or that you were so efficient at the NVC stage?

So looks like pushing Sue too much may not get the desired results all the time. I somehow feel more comfortable with NVC doing the final review of my application and setting the interview date than the Chennai consulate doing it.

In that case your NVC timeline will not be a valid timeline for others to compare with. Makes sense now as to why you literally flew through NVC.

Good thing here is except the "Final Review" everything is completed at NVC side. So, to my wife, everything will be normal, because she doesn't have to pay the fee and all.

But only risk here is - since NVC has not done the "Final Review", it is more prone to AP. So, documents must be crystal clear. AP takes longer than NVC final review. Some APs goes to many months

But you may still qualify for the expedite if the worst happens and AP rears its ugly head

We have to do all of our at the Consulate so it could be a bit tricky, as it stands, I sent all of my documents registered mail to my wife, a week ago today. It is recommended to take 3-6 business days. Bloody things havent arrived yet, though they have arrived in the same state - new jersey, yesterday morning.

So Ive been looking up getting replacement documents just in case - if i have to order them by Friday it could take a week at worst for them all to come, so its not the end of the world for me.....just yet!

My push was:

1) Our USC child is waiting in India and she needs better medical care in the U.S

2) My wife wants to start her Ph.D program in the U.S soon

3) Also, there are H1N1 fever in my area and I fear my family would not be affected and want to bring them here soon

I disagree, as its not only Loto and myself that requested expedites. There must be hundreds of people requesting and getting approvals, plus with the NVC as busy as it seems to be it all balances itself out over the calendar year. Others have been known to fly through the NVC without any problems, or time taken at all, I guess its all relative really.

Guys, After the AOS and IV package delivery to NVC, please don't follow my timeline.

I totally agree with you, svenkatc. My idea was a force completion of the NVC process by NVC itself and schedule the interview date by NVC and forward the case to the Consulate. But it didn't happen.
