That surprises me Teya. The reason being, they want an offical document translation to verify information. If the individual does their own translation they can make it say what ever they want. So I dont understand why the Homeland Security would allow that. Just my view of course. I didnt need anything translated as all documents were already in English.

Whoever translates the document needs to be competent to translated. You or anyone else. You could write anything you want but when you have you interview, chances are that they'll have a native speaking officer glance over your documents. And you'd get caught. Then boo, no visa. Most of my documents were in English, save one. I could've translated it by my father-in-law had it translated before he sent it to me. I didn't know. The translator is CPA so he attached his contact info and his CPA registration stuff. This is more information than you need about me. But I felt the need to share. My stomach hurts and i need some distraction. I have been working like a donkey ripping up carpet all day. And I had hot wings for lunch. Sure garlic Parmesan hot wings sounds and tastes delicious, but once you have more than exactly 8 of them, your body will actively reject it. As did mine. Now I'm incapacitated and without a bed to lie down on. So I'm sleeping on the floor and my tail bone is hurting. I'm so tired that I have no desire to even get up and take a shower knowing I will have to keep doing this **** again tomorrow.

AOS is still not accepted. :( But we know nothing happens on weekend.

USPS f'ed up my next day delivery of my IV package sent on Thursday for delivery on Friday and they attempted to deliver the package on Saturday (today) when NVC is closed.

They left a notice for NVC to get it from the Post Office or request re-delivery. I called USPS and as a sender I believe I can't request redelivery on Monday. The receiver (NVC needs to do this ). Will NVC take care of this ??

Loto/others any thoughts?

Don't worry. I'm sure this happens a lot. NVC probably has a bulk request for re-delivery. Wait till Monday. USPS should get a request for the mail. Call NVC first thing in the morning on Monday. Then ask them what's their policy about this. Sorry that your IV got delayed 3 days.

Thanks, Indi.

I am thinking it will get redelivered on Monday and like you said am sure a lot of their mail comes on Saturday's too and they should have a policy to handle stuff. I gave the USPS folks a piece of my mind and I guess they are refunding me the next day charge.

As such, I doubt NVC would have taken any action had it reached Friday. The way they have been processing stuff lately, everything is up in the air.

Also, received my IV email this morning and the AVR says, the fees have been received...blah..blah..blah

I don't think it is for you to translate. You have to get an independent party who is qualified to certify the translation as being accurate. Not just anyone they need to be sure the translation is 100%. So you will have to spend some $ to get that done.

Tom, I have a degree in Spanish and I worked as a translator for a while until I got my Masters. Now I just teach spanish. I have been considered certified enough to translate thus far, so I don't think this would be any different. Working in the Language field I also have several friends who would be more than capable who would be willing to do it.

Now that my husband is a citizen, we are preparting documents to apply to bring his parents here.

lady_bug, It could be a false RFE. they could have entered you AOS information in to the system and not the IV information and that can trigger a false RFE..which means they are actually waiting for the IV.

I believe there could be a gap between the time they update the AVR about receiving the package and the actual time when the package is being reviewed. Your list looks fine.

Call NVC first thing on Monday and don't rely too much on the AVR.

 laying down on the job again hey. Well looks to me like you should have been the Ogre instead of the donkey . I think he can eat anything... Enjoy the weekend.

Job? God, no. I'm not fit for manual labor. I'm replacing my house carpet. I decide to rip the old carpet myself and haul it away. I ended up saving $600 by doing this myself. New carpet will get installed Monday. So I allowed two days to get the cleaning up done. I have one bedroom, a hallway, and the living room to clear out. Everything else is done.

Tom, I've been reading your updates. Sounds like it's not a huge snag but a snag nonetheless. Hopefully, it'll be resolved soon.

Tom, I have a degree in Spanish and I worked as a translator for a while until I got my Masters. Now I just teach spanish. I have been considered certified enough to translate thus far, so I don't think this would be any different. Working in the Language field I also have several friends who would be more than capable who would be willing to do it.

Tabta,

I was just giving you my opinion. I not questioning your ability to translate. Just dont forget you are also a party to this and I felt you doing the translation would be seen as a conflict of interest. I guess we could certify our own Documents (marriage Certificate, PCC, Divorce Decree, etc.) using your logic right? I dont think so. They are asking us for original or certified documents so if you are translating one of those I think it compromises the purpose of wanting it certified. Its not that you cant its just that some people might not give 100% translation to help their cause. Not saying you would. If you can see what I am trying to say, it okay by me. I would recommend speaking to NVC or doing additional research but that's up to you. I only have a High School education and these are just my comments. Good Luck.
