Thanks for clarifying it Jon. I didn't know the difference. Darn Acronyms... But I certainly do now expecially after she got bite by it. She should have gotten another one when the one she had was taken because of the Passport renewal but she didnt.

So I recieved my father-in-laws cartila militar (proof of military service) yesterday and while I am glad to have it, I am not looking forward to the extensive translation I will be spending my saturday doing. There are like 5 pages that have general information about the mexican army and mexico that are on everyones cartilla. Do I need to translate that stuff to or can I only translate the stuff that is directly related to him?

NVC does not need it. But, the Consulate will ask for it (from Wakf board) for Muslim marriages. So, better carry it at the interview time.

As you may know we get 3 original copies of nikahnama but the issue in my husband's copy is his name is spelled incorrectly. Will tht be an issue? However, his name is spelled correctly in bride copy and the copy we gave to municipality. Its an issue to get a new nikanamah bc tht will require signature of all witnesses n some of them witnesses are here.

Things in India take forever to fix. It took us almost month an half to get marriage certificate the way we want bc of their stupid errors. I do not want to go thru this again.

AOS package mailed, USPS express for a Monday Delivery. Im glad that part is out of my hands now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Think ill get a beer now!!!

10/26/10: NVC Case# received by calling AVR.

10/27/10: DS-3032 Emailed, no response.

10/28/10: Called NVC gave both Petitioners & Beneficiaries email and contact info

10/28/10: IIN Received, emailed DS-3032 using supervisor Sue, received response that agent can not be added at this time.

11/01/10: Emailed DS-3032 and have no response so far.

Why'd you have 3 originals? I thought it was supposed to be the same document. Anyways, the skeptic in me tells me that I should tell you to fix your name spelling errors. Why risk it? Things in South Asia takes forever and move at snail pace. My wife had to wait 2 whole weeks to get her police certificate. When it should have really taken couple of days. Oh well, good luck. Get the error fixed if you can. Or don't sent the copy with error in it. Just sent the marriage certificate and hand carry the nikahnama to interview.

I agree with Indigo. Don't send the erroneous Nikahnama to NVC. NVC basically does not know what is nikahnama and due to the name conflict, it might issue an RFE.

Better carry them to the Consulate and you have lot of time to fix it before the interview.

I didn't send our nikahnama to NVC, but going to produce it at the interview. The reason the religious marriage was 1 day before the civil marriage date. Officially we follow the civil marriage date. So, I didn't want to confuse NVC due to this date conflict. But Consulate will understand this since they know the local custom.

I don't think it is for you to translate. You have to get an independent party who is qualified to certify the translation as being accurate. Not just anyone they need to be sure the translation is 100%. So you will have to spend some $ to get that done.

To be honest Teya I am kind of surprise how few people we have seen from Mexico in the March group. How many can you think of? I cant think of any really. Maybe they have other ways or sites to accomplish this like going directly to the Embassy.But I am just guessing.

USPS f'ed up my next day delivery of my IV package sent on Thursday for delivery on Friday and they attempted to deliver the package on Saturday (today) when NVC is closed.

They left a notice for NVC to get it from the Post Office or request re-delivery. I called USPS and as a sender I believe I can't request redelivery on Monday. The receiver (NVC needs to do this ). Will NVC take care of this ??

Loto/others any thoughts ?

That surprises me Teya. The reason being, they want an offical document translation to verify information. If the individual does their own translation they can make it say what ever they want. So I dont understand why the Homeland Security would allow that. Just my view of course.

I didnt need anything translated as all documents were already in English.

- Case Complete, 9/13/10 w/questions on lack of income

- NVC Forwards Case to Embassy, Manila

- Waiting Medical completed 10/27/10

- Interview Date 11/3/10 Wife didn't have NSO Marriage Certificate, No Approval OMG!!!

- NSO Certificate received by Embassy on 11/5/2010

- Informed by call center. Cost $18 Information received- we need to wait 6-8 weeks from Nov 5th FUBAR.

- VISA APPROVED 12/15/2010

- Wife arrived in US Feb 2, 2011... :)
