Hi Everyone:

My fiancee had her interview in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and received her K-1 visa. She has looked into the process of asking the Kazakhstani government for official permission to leave. Anybody else done this or did they just leave? If you just left, any problems in returing to visit relatives. Up until she applies for US citizenship she will be traveling on her Kazakhstani passport, but will use her GC for entry to the US. I just don't want to get to Kazakhstan and have her denied entry, but I am able to enter.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Do to the fact Roza has property and relatives, she wanted to do it "by the book" so she applied to the permission to leave. It took about a month for all the paper work to go thru and I do not think it cost anything or if it did it was in the 5000 KZT range. She had to give up her residency ID card and received a stamp in her passport. The real test will be when we go back to Kazakhstan to see how easy it will be.

I am not sure of the entire process, but I do know that she had to show the Minestry of Justice (I think) her US visa, her residency ID card and fill out a form. Then she had to go somewhere else and turn in the piece of paper she received and then wait about 40 days and then went back a couple more times in order to get the stamp. It just takes time waiting in all those lines. I feel much better knowing that we did go thru all of this and tried to do it the correct way.

It's a shame that with all the progress that KZ has made, that it still violates basic human rights by having us go through the whole exit thing. She will also lose her pension. My Wife has been working for 20 years and KZ gets her pension. Good luck to you two! :)
