Indeed. There may be two types of virgins, the supposedly willing still-in-the-box type, and the highly reluctant one who works to get out of the box.

I've been the latter, which is why I worked to improve my life, via: leaving the conservative religion of my youth, loosing 110 pounds, getting rid of my thick glasses, buying a house, getting a good job, happily taking in all there is to learn & know about human culture & interactions from many sources, becoming a teacher [even an ESL-type teacher] for a time, going to Ukraine three times, living away from home including in Portland, Texas, and Alaska, and so on, and getting out there and socializing more and even organizing some social groups).

We each have our reasons for seeking out someone and being in the situations we are in. And there's a deeper connection that we both have felt.

More fundamentally I would like to have kids and she does also and we have spoken about this as well. But I do plan to help her go to school for a couple of years, and then we can do the kid thing. But I know surprises can happen. But we also cannot put the cart before the horse.

First she must come over and we need to see each other more here, and so on.

So anyway, we'll move forward...

Good for you that you have made changes that make you feel better, and Ukrainian women are tops in my book, no doubt (I could be biased...I'm not...but I could be)

I was never in a box and I can tell you that Ukrainian women in general are very comfortable with themselves, their bodies, with you, etc. So be prepared to accept that she will give you "all of her" to please "all of you". A more delicate way to say it, I can not think of. Ukrainian women, being from a culture where women compete for men, are very sensitive to being desireable to their man. In Ukraine if their man loses interest it is because he has another woman...so is the assumption (usually correct). It is great and wonderful all intimate and all that. Should be more fun than her learning English. They DO consider the man's ability to please them in that way as important as doing his other man jobs. Again speaking generally from my own limited experience.

I'd suggest having sex before you get married. A lot of sex. Sex with other women, too. You don't want to be stuck with some bad pu$$y for the rest of your life. You also don't want to get a piece of @$$ and say to yourself, "holy $#!t, that was so awesome... why haven't I been doing this forever?" Because if you do, and you're married, it's already too late. You're going to look at that hot piece of Eastern European poontang sittin on the sofa and say, "man, she's great.... but she's all I'm ever going to stick for the rest of my tired life."

Don't be that guy. I mean, you wouldn't buy a car without test driving it first, would you? Also, it'd be like driving a Porsche while still on your temps. You should know how to drive - and have driven POS cars for several years - before you can really truly appreciate how a finely-tuned, custom-crafted automobile can be a pleasure to drive. If you just jump in that Porsche, that's all you'll ever know, and then even Cobalts, Fiestas and Civics will start looking good.

Hard to tell without further testing, to be sure. At first I thought I had arrived on another planet when I got to Ukraine...a planet dominated by the diabolical Dr. Finetush with his special factory for Barbie doll women on high heels, thankg goodness he didn't forget the heels! When my landlord suggested paying to "meet women who wanted to get married" The line "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout fool?" came to mind. But Alla put an immediate halt to that, no kidding. Haven't looked ANYwhere since. Just me, your results could vary.

I don't agree with all the advice about not getting tested. This is only common sense/decency and the Visa medical does not check for all STI's.

Only YOU know what kind "activities" you got up to, and only she knows what she got up to. It takes only ONE person who's careless to pass on something. One person who doesn't realise someone else had something. I'm sure you know "cold sores" on the mouth are oral herpes, that's passed by kissing, sharing coffee cups etc... This turns to genital herpes if someone performs oral sex with an active infection (don't have to see it for it to be active). There are other STI's that don't show symptoms.

Mention the "idea" to her, see if SHE thinks you should be tested "just in case" and whether you should both get tested to be safe.

I don't know if you've discussed your past, and yes the past is the past, but by not getting tested, her past could haunt your future and vice versa.

In todays day and age (unfortunately in my opinion) sleeping around is common place and not everyone is as "safe" as they should be. Whether because of peer pressure, or misplaced feelings of love. It's only smart to protect yourself and your loved one.

Another way to approach this is....get a full physical for both of you and just test for everything as part of that. This way you'll have a complete record of health for both of you, and in a few years, you can get tested again and compare back to that to see if anything has changed. My family has done that for years and it's been an easy way to spot any developing problems before they become serious. I know there are good doctors in Ukraine, but there are a lot of bad doctors too, so I basically felt like everything was pretty much an unknown until we went to a doctor I trusted here in the states anyway.

On a funny side note, when my wife refers to me as her Wolverinchik I know it's time to shave!
