This may be sound stupid but is there someone nice enough in the Manila area that will do me a HUGE favor..? I know you don't know me but I'm SO desperate... my birth certificate is severely damaged and I need to have it replaced.. I've gone to the e-census website to order a replacement and the National Statistics office told me that they can't find me in their system and that I would need to have someone come to the City Civil Registrar's office personally to endorse my birth record to the National Statistics Office (NSO)... believe me, I've tried to contact family members in the Philippines to ask if they could do it for me but everyone seems to be "too busy". I've also tried to call the City Civil Registry office to see if there is anyway I could get around that and they told me the same thing... if someone out there can help me, please contact me! :help:

We used this service with great success.

Good Luck!

My link

I've already done that step. I tried to order it via their website, paid the fee and everything but NSO contacted me and told me that they have no record of my birth... that's why I'm trying to find someone in the Philippines to help me.. NSO told me I'd need to designate a representative to go to the City Civil Registrar's office on my behalf to request them to endorse my birth record to the NSO.. then they can send it to me because I've already paid the fee :(

I don't have my baptismal certificate. I tried to contact the church in Sampaloc where I got baptized but they told me they had a flood a while back and lost a bunch of records... (just my luck) :bonk: but thank you! any thing will help!

I can't do anything without my birth certificate... my birth certificate isn't totally damaged, it's just defaced a little bit, and ripped in half and I managed to tape it back together... I sent photocopies of it with my AOS package and am afraid that USCIS will send me an RFE and ask for another copy because you can tell on the photocopies where it's ripped and taped back up, and also where there are marks from where my daughter wrote on it. I can't believe how hard it is to just get a copy of my birth certificate! :crying:

thanks for the reply. I would send you a copy of it if I had a scanner! This is what e-census emailed me though:

You may request the assistance of your relative or representative in the

Philippines to request the City Civil Registry Office (CCRO) of Manila, to

endorse your birth record to the National Statistics Office (NSO).

Once the CCRO-Manila has endorsed your birth record to the NSO, kindly request

your representative to obtain a copy of the endorsement stub with endorsement

number from CCRO-Manila. This will help track the record at the archives of

the NSO.

Once the birth certificate is available at NSO, the NSO will re-process the

birth certificate request and will have the document result

delivered to you through the registered mail service of the Philippine Postal

Corporation (PhilPost).

You may also get in touch with CCRO-Manila, at (02) 405-0081, for your

follow-up and inquiries.

Thank you.

Yours truly,

e-Census Operations

Do you think I should just file a late registration? What if the City Civil Registry office still has a record of my birth though, and NSO just doesn't have it in their system? I was reading up some info on the late registration process here: http://www.manila.gov.ph/citycivilregistry.htm and I definitely don't have some the requirements that they ask for anyway like my parents' certified copy of marriage contract, endorsement from hospital, etc.

I guess it would just be easier if I knew somebody in the Philippines that could just follow the directions on that email from NSO and help me :( I even called the City Civil Registrar's office myself in Manila and they ofcourse were NO help.

Seems to me you did not offer enough "compensation". I bet they are not too busy if the price is right.

No, my family in the Philippines don't need money lol I've already offered. My uncle owns a newspaper company and all own their own businesses so that didn't work. I've had 2 family members already say that they would "try" when they get a chance but like I said.. they're "too busy"... I haven't seen them in over 15 years though so that's probably why they're not making it their first priority to do me a favor

I've already called and contacted them and they told me that someone needs to come in personally and endorse it.. (not really sure why they have to come in person) I even lied and said I have no contact with any family there just to see if they would do it over the phone and the lady didn't understand me too well and just kept repeating the same instructions... I don't speak tagalog very well, grew up in the south so I have a southern accent and she couldn't understand me too well either :bonk: I wish there was a way I could email their office!

Oh geez, I totally feel your pain. It is sooooo hard to get records from the Philippines. Every time there is some paperwork to be done, I always ask the lawyer way beforehand -- "Is there something/anything that I need to get from my home country?" Because I know that would take months and would cost a lot with all the overseas calls you would make, following up, asking things, getting transferred all over the place! It is frustrating.

Anyway, our relatives have their lives to lead in the Philippines. And one has to allot time to do this errand. I would totally understand if they are "busy". I would not ask my sibling to do this, honestly.

But how about this: find a third person. Someone your friend knows, or someone trustworthy. Offer payment. Make it a little bit generous because, after all, this is an important document. Pay a third person, make it like a business transaction. He does the errand, you pay him in return. You pay the transportation expenses. If he needs to go to Sampaloc or to a province, give him tickets. You just need a body to do it.

Not sure how many VJ users are in the PH, but try changing the topic to: Need someone in the PH to run some errands. Willing to pay.

Another forum you can try posting that would be pinoyexchange.com. There are tons of Filipinos out there. And I am almost certain there would be someone there who would take your offer :)

Hi!

I'm located in Dimasalang, malapit lang sa City Hall. Tell me what you need me to do, or PM me your US number so I can call you and we can discuss how to do things.

Sanay din ako mag-process ng mga ganitong documents, since elementary, because with my Mom as the head of the clan, people are always coming to our place to ask questions, advice and favors, kaya ikot ko na halos lahat ng government agencies, banks & other offices since I was a kid.
