I'm not aware of any but this is not Really vigilantism, this is administering justice where all would agree the legal system failed too.

When it comes to interpreting the meaning or intent of Scripture, Jesus is the foremost authority as the Son of God. There are a lot scriptural passages, particularly in the Old Testament that when interpreted literally are in contrast with the Gospel. Even the Pharisees thought Jesus' teachings were radically different. I would say most Christians today misunderstand the Old Testament or take a more literal translation which is often contradictory to what Jesus preached.

I would say most Christians today misunderstand the Old Testament or take a more literal translation which is often contradictory to what Jesus preached.

Actually, I think too many people play the WWJD logic.

Jesus was here to fulfill a certain roll and mission so we can't suppose his life example should be ours in "all" ways.... if this were the case Christians would never even kill in self defense ... because Jesus never did.

Also The Jesus of the new Testament was the Same Son of God who wrote the old testament (see the beginning of the book of John).

That's a bit over the top. I don't particularly like BY, but I certainly wouldn't make that analogy. He may be a bit of a douche who doens't know how to cite references, or properly interpret statistics, but he is a far cry from those people you have him lumped in with in your analogy.

For religions that do believe in a personal God, human traits often used to describe such God; "the wrath of God", for example.
