Exactly who's god are we talking about?

Unless you are polytheistic, the one and only God...assuming you believe in Him/Her.

God wouldn't be happy but I don't think that would affect my salvation if I asked for forgiveness.

And for the murderer, if in his last breath, he asks God forgiveness, he too is also forgiven?

Yes they would but it will not lessen the time spent in purgatory but it will mean they will come out eventually.whistling.gif

And would it affect your chances in the afterlife?

It depends on the situation. Individuals have no reason to participate in vigilante justice for the punishment's sake. That is, if the murderer did not pose a reasonable future threat you can't justify killing him. God will punish him.

But if you fear that the murderer poses a threat to others and are killing for the purpose of protection of others, not solely to punish the murderer, then you can be justified in that.

I disagree with those that are discussing asking for forgiveness. Doing something with the intention of asking for forgiveness later is highly hypocritical. Moreover, even if God forgives you it doesn't mean that what you did wasn't wrong.

OK OK OK, then who's rulebook are we playing by? The bible seems pretty firm on this topic. "You shall not murder" I think he would be angry.

If he/she is truly sincere and is right with God according to the Bible he/she will be forgiven.

Flying Spaghetti Monster is the only true savior.

Flying Spaghetti Monster loves all and forgives, except for that Roper family in Kansas, ** THEM.

Yes, which is why we humans are not God. We probably wouldn't be as merciful in those situations.
