An AOS interview is nothing exciting. You do not have to prepare anything. Bring a photo album of your wedding, however.

They will ask some plain questions, such as where you met, where you got married, if family was around. Perhaps they ask for your spouse's birthday, or if he or she has siblings. Nothing tricky as shown in the movie Green Card. You don't have to know the color of your spouse's toothbrush, and you don't have to know what perfume she uses. But you may -- even without preparation -- know whether or not she drinks coffee or tea. Again, don't try to prepare as there's nothing to prepare for.

Answer all questions truthfully, dress nicely, talk only to answer questions. Don't drift into story telling. You'll be in and out in 20 minutes.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Here is a good link to your question... and yes, you DO have to "prepare" for your interview, meaning to get as much "evidence" as possible together to bring it with you, as far as being prepared for the questions, nothing to fear if you have a real marriage...

The initial page that you'll see it's gonna be in spanish, so go to the bottom of page 2 or keep passing pages and you'll get to the English version of it.

"english only is required in the forums"

whatever! let me translate it for you pal so it will make you feel better: raffy thanks for the information linked, thank you and have good day. i speak whatever language i want. even ukrainian.

You can SPEAK whatever language you like... pig-latin for all I care, but you can only TYPE english in the upper forums. Any other languages are restricted to the regional forums and/or PM's.

like i said before and for future repliers: whatever!

stop being immature. It is against the VJ terms of service to speak in a language other than english in the upper forums. If you are bilingual then you are lucky that this restriction does not affect you, however not everyone is bilingual and the US is an english speaking country, therefore it makes sense that questions and answers are posted in english to assist everyone.

I have reported you both for your rudeness and unwillingness to obey the rules.

Already reported you.

FYI "pal" is a term used to mean "friend". I am not your friend and therefore the use of the term is incorrect. You didn't translate the spanish message until you were told it was improper in the upper forums. You then proceeded to proclaim you would do whatever you wanted, I simply reminded you that you cannot do "whatever you want" because there are rules for a reason and you were breaching them.

For what it's worth, you imply you didn't disrespect anyone but you disrespected VJ, payxibka and myself directly with your behaviour, other members were indirectly disrespected as obviously you didn't care if they didn't know what you meant.

**Edit - in case I was unclear, the term "whatever" is disrespectful. A simple "sorry pal, won't happen again" would have sufficed.

** Just to clarify - we do ask that we use English only in all non-regional forums. That is official.

Try to get along - We're all here for pretty much the same thing - to get help and/or to help others along the way. This topic will remain under Moderator review for a period of time - I will expect this back and forth to end now.

This is funny. I read this online from one of the immigration interviews in NYC. Some asked for the pattern of bathroom tiles.
