Bonafide Marriage?

So my husband and I got married and we're filing the AOS. We have no joint property and I can't open an account with him because I can't get a social security number yet. We have two letters from affidavits but I feel like that isn't enough. What else could we send in to prove we are a legit married couple?

Proof of bonafide marriage isn't required for submission in an adjustment of status application; USCIS may ask you to prepare them later in the event you are called for an interview.

If you're adjusting from K1 or K3 status, here is the guide to what you need to prepare for the AOS+EAD+AP application: http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1k3aos

Your previous posts indicate your are adjusting from a Canadian visitor thing (it's not a visa I think :S)

** moved from "Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from Family Based Visas" to "Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas" as you are adjusting from a visa other than a K1, K2, K3 & K4 which the prior forum is for**

You can be added to your husband's checking account without a ssn.

We tried a while ago and were told I couldn't be added, then we were at our bank last week and it somehow came up again while we were chatting with the manager, and she said, "Pfft, who told you that? Of course you can!"

She sat us down, did a little paperwork and the new box of checks with my name added just came in the mail the day before yesterday.

hi KG :)

I opened campus Checkings account with Bank of America last year when I came to visit... all they needed was your foreign passport.

My husband and I went to BA 2 months before we sent the aos application and they merged our accounts into one. Now we have our accounts in both names ;)

Im pretty sure you can do that too.

Cheers x

Hello,

I am a USC with citibank and added my wife to my checking/saving plus account 2 weeks ago. My wife is from Canada B1 visa, has no SS#.

We brought with us:

1. Marriage certificate

2. Her Canadian passport

3. Her Canadian driver's license

3-4 days later, a box in the mail came with checkbooks having both of our names on it. Of course, my wife added my last name to hers as well.
