What comes after the biometric appointment?

Hey everyone

My husband and I started filling out our K-1 papers in April 2009. It was a long journey, flying back and forth constantly, but I finally got approved for my K-1 visa last January.

We got married in March and started filling out the rest of the paperwork.

A month or so ago I got a letter saying they would contact me for my biometric appoint (only took them like six months >_>; ). I got my letter in the mail two weeks ago and I had my appointment today.

The appointment itself was a piece of cake. It was probably the easiest and most relaxed "appointment" I have had. (My experiences with the USCIS officers weren't that good).

Had my fingerprints and photos taken, got a stamp and signature on my appointment letter... and that was it..

Now I am kind of confused...

Is this it? Will they send me the green card now? (Ok, that'll prolly take them forever too)

Or is there another some sort of appointment after this?

Thank you!

-Maggie

*** not a K-1 visa topic - moving to AOS forum ***

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Either you will be contacted for an AOS interview, OR USCIS will contact you to respond to a RFE (Request for Evidence), OR USCIS will continue processing your applications (am assuming you filed for EAD and AP aside from AOS) and approve you without an interview.

-crosses her fingers- I hope I won't get an interview hehe.

I am not sure if we filled out the EAD and AP... If I didn't, does that mean I still should?

Because, I would like to finally get a job sometime after everything is over ^_^

Best time to have filed an EAD and AP is at the same time as the AOS, because the EAD and AP fees are waived.

You still can, but there will be an extra fee: $340 for the EAD and $305 for the AP.

No there isnt'. As long as the OP sends a copy of the NOA1 from the AOS with the applications, the fees will be waived.

OP - if you want to send them in, feel free but it's way too late now. You would have got them 2 months after filing. At this rate you'll get your GC first.

Please update your timeline so others can benefit from your experience and your profile to reflect that you are now AOS (pending). The timeline function is up the top called "immigration timelines". To update your profile click on "settings" (up the top right of the page) then the "profile" tab, then "change profile information" (which should be the default one that opens). Then scroll down to Immigration status where it currently says "k1" and change it to "AOS (pending)".
