What are we going to be looking to get at the civil sugeons,

A complete physical or just her vaccination record tanscribed?

I'm getting a headache reading through too many peoples experiences...

She has her vac records translated from Russia in hand. Her previous med exam prior to the K-1 interview in Moscow was less than a year ago. I don't dare ask the CS what I need because I'm sure they'll try to upsell for a full blown exam, anti corrosion underbody coating, and if we act now they'll throw in a full tank of gas. Which would be nice and all, but i just filled er up. :o

:ot2:

So which would it be?

Vaccination portion ONLY. That is the law...BUT, if you are that mercy of the CS to fill out the vaccination portion of the form then they can require you to have and pay for a full medical exam. No pay, no signature. Some will just flatly tell you, "pay up or too bad for you" it is a scam for the most part. Call around for the local CS's and see who will do what for how much.

You basically just need them to sign off. I forget the form number, (does 695 sound familiar?) but basically they just look it over, look over the shot records, and sign off that she's cool.

Do a google search for a CS that specializes in immigration cases in your area. They're typically pretty quick and easy. One of the funniest things I ever saw was when my wife and I went to the CS and he (Indian dude) was asking her (typical Russian MOB) if she'd ever had chicken pox. Neither of them knew how to explain it in a way they could understand so both of them were sitting there pointing up and down their arms as he made some type of "doop doot dooop" sound while she was saying, "chick cheeek chieeck."

He ended up deciding that her 3025 didn't reflect the right chickenpox anitvirus so we had to make a trip to the ghetto clinic to get a varicella antibodies check for $18 or something like that. The price was far too low for our experience! Nothing like waiting amongst the Medicaid folks with fresh Jordans and three cell phones. Welcome to America!

Thank you, Gents!

Call ahead and shop around, if you can there. Make sure you tell them you want "her vaccination records transcribed" or else they will default for the full service.

Their office should give you a copy for your records and the original sealed in an envelope. You send in that envelope along with a copy of her vaccination record and any translation.

Yup! There is a pretty decent list of civil sugeons in our town, I'm hopeful one of them will know the drill.

Shaun,

Definitely shop around. In most cases if there are any shots missing you can get them at the public clinic which is really cheap but they will get the job done. As to the civil surgeons, that is definitely a scam but you have to go through it. In our case there was only one in our town, otherwise a 50 mile drive to the next closest. The fee was much more that the service was worth and it was essentially this really old doctor that was supplementing his retirement with this program. He tried to administer a TB shot to my wife and shot the serum all over her arm instead of injecting it. Guess what, days later no evidence of TB. Go figure.

Just get it done and behind you. It's just another example of the requirements of the system not doing what they are intended. At least our wives come from countries that try to protect their population.

CS here was under $50 if I remember correctly.

Wow, that's a great price. I'm pretty sure I was held up for $160 on two separate occasions plus any needed shots at the public health clinic. The shots were pretty cheap which is why I can't remember.

See, it helps to shop around if possible.

By the way, our other options would have cost more plus the driving costs.

This is proving to be a PITA.. Either 30 days out to be seen at some clinics, or 180 bucks+ for a full exam at other clinics..

I work with a Belguim Engineer who overheard me talking on the phone, and told me he didn't go to a civil surgeon and he was also a K-1 reciepient.

This I693 is only needed if the 3025 ....

Just got a phone call from someone I left a messge with. 67 bucks and it's considered a walk in, as long as she doesn't need any other shots.

Deal.

It is not very clear if the 693 is needed if the 3025 is sent in. The VJ guides suggest doing both and usually no one has RFEs when following that route whereas many do get RFEs for a 693 when they only sent in the 3025. Now some have sent in only the 3025 and skated through. Clear as mud.

Our local cost was $100 for both, transcriptions only. No RFEs.

Keep in mind she can get the shots at the "public clinic" and it will be cheaper.

Exactly. I think it's technically unnecessary if she's had her exam in the last year or so and everything checks out on the 3025. The way I see it though, if you're paying the CS, better to get everything signed off on and double up for AOS app.

3025 should suffice IF all vaccinations are complete. If not then vaccinations will need to be completed and the 693 filled out to reflect the updated vaccines.

This is why I had my wife get the vaccines she was missing at her medical in Moscow and just sent in the 3025 without needing to visit the CS here. Worked out well, and at our AOS interview I asked about the medical. The officer looked at the 3025 I had sent in and reviewed it and said everything was fine.
