How long is the Visa's expiration in HCMC???

Generally, the typical visa is issued with 6 months expiration, but I also heard that for those cases that are in AP for awhile..the issued visa is only good for 1 month. Can someone confirm this? Thanks much..

It can be tied to the medical results.. if the medical expires soon after the visa is issued, they may give less time.. since Hangs medical will be fresh when she gets it, it should be 6 months.. Thuy will get hers in a few days and I will let you know how long it is since her medical is fresh also..

My travel plan is depending on how long her visa is going to be and whether I will be booking tix for Noi Bai or TanSanNhat Airport. I will definitely want to hear from you when Thuy picks up the visa..let me know ok.

I thought you already got the Visa Scott, how did that happen prior to the medical? But Scott is correct it is tied to the validity of the medical, if it is recent then you have 6 months, and if it is about to expire then it is shorter, some people are asked to renew their medical when it is less than a month away from expiring. Good luck and hopefully we have all answered your questions. Jerome and Binh

She got the pink last week and picks up the passport with the visa on Thursday.. The medical was just redone a week ago.. just before the pink was issued, that is what I meant by fresh... Johns wifes visa was only good for 3 or 4 months.. likely because of the length of time in AP and not being required to get a new medical before her visa was issued..

So when is she comming home? You are right with the validity, it depends on the medical, I think it is a bit strange since if you did pass once then you SHOULD be good to go, but it would not surprise me if they were to jerk a visa simply because something happened health wise, which is understandable since TB is so expensive to treat in the states and it is so rampant here in Vietnam

Medical exams are only valid for 6 months and she got her first one in early Jan.. it was expired when they reviewed the case at the end of Aug so she had to get a new one and had no issues.. same thing happened to Hang but she passed the first one and then got flagged for sputum on the second after the CO gave them the Ok to get it and bring in to get the pink and they are now waiting for the doc to give her the OK.. sucks for her to get a clean test then get flagged on the next one.. Hang is only a few weeks away from the results now...

Just talked to Hang, she said ChoRay called her yesterday morning and telling her the medical results are completed. She will come in this morning to pick up the paperworks (yellow immunizations and xray). The Police Certificate is being sent from Hanoi. She will submit that when received and waiting for the good news. Will keep you updated...

Awesome..thanks mucho. That is why I asked because I was hearing about the variation from 1 to 6 months and not sure approximately how long it would apply to those of us in AP. I guess Thuy will celebrate her first Tet in FL this year

Exactly.. we wont be back until next summer... The date was the first thing I noticed when I saw the visa... I had to wait my turn until her mother gave it a good looking over... Hang should ask them when she submits the paperwork.. they may be able to give her an answer at that point.. if not it will be wait another week and find out..

when will she get her PC from HaNoi?

She said her brother supposed to pick it up and sent it in for her, but she still waiting for it..don't know if the 1000 yrs Thang Long celebration slows that down. ChoRay said the Consulate should pickup the medical by 04Oct10 so she can contact them after that. I will give the PC's delivery a couple more days and remind her to come in next week to submit..I want to plan my trip back
