According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Like I said, inequality is good unless you're a no-good filthy communist who believes in social justice and cheers on the opening of soup kitchens. You will know America has finally achieved economic maturity when the opening of a new soup kitchen is met by angry protests and not ribbon cutting ceremonies with pandering politicians.

Inequality is a good thing because it means our free market economy is doing a good job of aligning rewards with effort.

So you are suggesting that the 97% of households earning under $250K are losers, yet the others which include athletes and entertainers, are champs of society?
