Hello all and thanks for any help.

1. There seems to be a significant problem receiving letters (both TO and FROM) the Philippines. We need to exchange some snail mail letters for documenting our relationship for the K-1 Application. Does it matter if these are sent through FED EX, or do we have to have a "post marked" envelope. Would the FED EX invoice and address label be adequate in lieu of a post mark? Does it have to be through the postal services? And although I welcome anyone's opinion, I would be especially glad to hear from someone who actually has experience with this.

2. It doesn't seem that my fiancee knows the correct format for her mailing address (this may be part of her problem receiving my letters). Nor does she know her postal (ZIP) code. Can anyone with knowledge of the Caloocan City area of Manila please send me the correct way to format her address?

I have changed the number of her street address for obvious reasons.

Name

1315 Langka Street, Camarin Area D

Caloocan City, Metro Manila

Philippines

And I'm not certain, but when I obtain the postal code, I believe that it goes just in front of "Caloocan City".

Is Camarin a Barangay?

Thanks,

Fermon

I am under the impression that snail mail is not as important to the consul officers as it used to be when it comes to proving a relationship. In fact, the consul officer didn't even look at Chinook's snail mail during her interview.

In these times of Yahoo Messenger, Skype, email, and cell phones, snail mail has lost it's importance in proving a bona fide relationship. While including snail mail would not hurt your case, I would advise you to concentrate more on those other means of communication to prove your relationship. :)

Personal letters sent through e-mail bear just as much weight as snail mail letters in an application. If you want to send anything via snail mail, greeting cards would be better....be prepared though for the possibility that they are delayed or never make it to your destination (sadly, we have lost a few greeting cards ourselves, or our envelopes permanently have tears on them and are marked "Received with damage"...yeah right...)

Your fiancee's zip code is 1421. Camarin Street is a long street, so they divvy it in areas (A, B, C, D...etc.) After a quick Google Search, the correct format seems to be:

Name

1315 Langka Street, Camarin D

1421 Caloocan City, Metro Manila

Philippines

I send my wife cards via regular U.S. mail. Only once was it delayed more than a week evidently because the postal carrier was out sick for a few weeks and nobody else was available to deliver. Wife finally went to post office and found it sitting on a shelf.
