Hi, I am the 46 year old..... To everyone who has had wonderful supportive comments, thank you!! It is nice to hear comments that help alleviate the stressful process we all are enduring. To those of you who don't agree, isn't it wonderful we live in a country where you have the right to your opinion and I for one am glad you do not get to make laws. As a human citizen we have the right to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Fortunately, here in the US, we are within the law. So, please do not judge, what you do not, or can not, understand. She is as mature as woman 3 times her age. I guess the joke is on me if you want to say I act 3 times less my age. However, our relationship was born from a wonderful friendship in which we talked for hours without seeing one another physically or knowing each others ages. We became friends because we liked each others company and conversation. We grew into our love as it stands today. Maybe if more relations were born from the same pattern, they would last longer. We plan to fight for our relationship and appreciate everyone's struggles to achieve their own personal happiness while being made to jump through many legal hoops.

Good luck you guys ! Our story is similar to yours and the age difference between my fiance and I did raise some questions and suspicions at the interview... but I answered honestly to everything I was asked (and plan on doing so for AOS, ROC etc.) and they couldn't deny us the right to be together. Just be ready for any possible questions, check the Brazilian forum to see how harsh the Consulate is and you should be just fine!

In all seriousness (no fun, but have to do it sometimes)

We get together with a group of 8 (recently expanded to 9) Russian/Ukrainian/Belarussian/American couples frequently. Alla and I have a 13 year age gap and of the couples are the second closest in age. One couple has a 7 year age gap and they go up from there. The biggest is 30 years (27 and 57 years old) In all cases the women are younger. In no case are there any complaints from the women about the men of any sort...well, you know, that too. (Alla tells me this, FSU women talk!) Given the prospect of younger men, most of the women make funny faces and spit toward their shoes and then laugh. They say bad words in Russian.

Why be so nervous if the love is real? No matter the age difference there should be no more nervousness than at a regular interview. If you are that much more nervous because of the age difference than maybe that shows there is a reason it should be looked in more as in that it may be a sham.

Ask the younger women that have older men.

Actually in some cultures it is a problem, it is much less often a problem when the woman is younger. If the man is the foreigner, and he is from a high fraud country and he is from a country where men marrying older women is rare, YES it can be a problem. The relationship will have to be very well documented
