Confusing letter from CSC

Hey everyone,

We received an e-mail on Wednesday that my husband's AOS was approved on Monday, and that an approval notice was mailed. We got a notice in the mail today from CSC, which does have the word "approval" somewhere on it, but says "we have reached the point in processing your case where we need further biometrics from you. Please schedule an appointment with your local office to have this done within 84 days."

What does this mean? Will this hold up his greencard from arriving? Did USCIS make a mistake? Or am I worried for no reason?

I did call the infoline, but the woman read me verbatim the e-mail my husband received stating the case was approved. She said it shouldn't affect his greencard's arrival date, but she didn't sound very sure of herself and I know a lot of people have gotten misinformation when calling the 800 number. I was just hoping someone else might have experienced this and could tell me what comes next and if there will be a holdup with the card.

Thanks so much, as always!

I would make the biometrics appointment. The green card - which is actually white - has an up to date photograph and fingerprint right on it. It could be that there is a problem with your existing biometrics that they can't use them or they have expired. You have been approved for the AOS (Congratulations, btw), but before they can create the Green Card for him they may need to have either a new photograph or fingerprints. If the green card arrives in before the appointment, you can always cancel the biometrics appointment.

Thanks for the reply.

The notice is very confusing, almost like it was a mistake. In the block that says "type of notice" it says "approval- fiance adjustment of status." But then, nowhere else on the form does it say anything about it being approved or about a greencard being issued. It just says "we have reached a point where further biometrics are necessary." It's like the top portion of the notice doesn't have anything to do with the bottom portion.

I was hoping someone else has experienced this. We do have an infopass scheduled for Tuesday, but since this came from California and not our local office, I am unsure if they will really know anything locally.
