Good. So now you understand that you are not forced to pay taxes. If your state is taxing you to pay for welfare mothers, you can leave that state. If the Federal Gov't. is taxing you for Food Stamps, you can leave the country. Your residency here in the U.S. is as voluntary as your residency in the state in which you currently live.

Point well taken.... We don't really "Have to" pay taxes,

we can do things like, slit our wrists or other things to avoid it.

Or we can go to the Pools in a few weeks to address tax N spend policies

It's interesting how different the various translations of that passage are. Here's from NAB:

For you know how one must imitate us. For we did not act in a disorderly way among you, 8 nor did we eat food received free from anyone. On the contrary, in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to burden any of you. 9 Not that we do not have the right. Rather, we wanted to present ourselves as a model for you, so that you might imitate us. 10 In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat...................

This was a letter from St. Paul to the Thessalonians. Do you think Paul here was trying to undermine Jesus' teaching in Matthew's Gospel about doing to the least of our brothers? For example, visiting someone in jail. Wouldn't it be safe to assume that if they are in jail, it is their own doing (like choosing not work)?

Absolutely not.

Teaching the lords lessons to those who may or may not have heard the message or have lived a life of sin is showing love and compassion. (you visit them to create fellowship and show them the works and teachings of God)

There is no reason unless a man be confined to solitary or disabled or elderly they could not work to help provide for themselves whole in prisoned for crimes.

What we as humans must do is love the sinner and hate the sin. A soul is worth saving until the last moments of their death.

Personaly follow this but I subjected to hate laws which affect me and my family and future wife due to new laws being passed. Yes I committed a SO crime yet there are laws being passed since 2006 until present which affect me and protect no one.

Yet there is no one who would stand up for the rights of a SO because they themselves would be persecuted. sorry off topic.

No one forces you to pay taxes, just like no one forces you to obey the laws. How are you forced?

I am sorry Steve I disagree whole heartedly with you on this. Being a natural born citizen you have no place to immigrate to so that Federal tax is avoided. Unless you seek military service and happened to have your residency in a state with no income tax.

I used to be more against giving money to people who asked for it. I didn't want to help the druggie or alcoholic get their fix. But then I read some personal stories of people, some who went undercover as homeless people to see what it was like, and then other stories, and felt like sometimes they just need a few bucks. I have dropped food off for people holding the 'will work for food' signs, and they hide the food to eat later because I guess food is not all they wanted. But I feel like I don't need to judge it anymore. We can't usually help every single time we see something like this, but sometimes it's the right time to help.

I give when I can I trust organizations less than i trust an individual.

If my heart says not to give I do not give and pray that I made the correct decision.

If my heart says to give I give what I can and pray that I made the correct decision.

Actually the first verse insists you brag, the second tells you to give in secret.

It does not insist.

You allow your fellow man to see your generosity to help teach him how to live a rigteous life.

What you regard as keeping secret your charity is more about not bragging about it. It shoul dnot matter to anyone whether you give or not but it is the lord will judge your heart and charity to your fellow man.

Here is a Biblical riddle:

How many Philistine foreskins did David buy his first wife with?

100 or 200?

2 Samuel 3:14:

And David sent messengers to Ishbosheth Saul's son, saying, Deliver me my wife Michal, which I espoused to me for an hundred foreskins of the Philistines.

1 Samuel 18:27

Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king's son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

Who is telling you have no country to immigrate to? Corporations move offshore all the time to avoid taxes. It's a sad viewpoint to believe that in this free country of ours, you aren't free to leave it.

The scripture is referring to a sick or handicapped person. Not crackheads, heroin addicts and alcoholics or any other self indulgent #######. I seriously think the lord would not condone the taking of a mans hard earned money and giving it to a person able to work.

How do you know if a man on the street isn't just down on his luck?

By that I mean that he is put in the position of being out on the street through no direct fault of his own.

Sure, people get "put out on the street" for reasons beyond their control all the time. But the decision to stay there long after UI benefits have run out - can that really be attributed entirely to bad luck?

That's quite a judgment.

What about people with mental problems who don't have someone to look after them, who end up on the streets?
