My wife is 25 years younger than me. She is 33 and I am 58 She is a school teacher in the Philippines. Will that help that she is a school teacher? School teachers are very respected in the Philippines. Will I have a difficult time getting her here in the USA on a K3 or IR1/CR1 Visa because of the age difference?

I am older than my husband and this is quite common in the middle east where there are plenty of fraudulent marriages.

We did not have any problem with his interview and age was never brought up. I believe it was because I was with him at the embassy for his interview and they really watch to see how you react and interact with each other. Be truthfull. They can tell.

A work acquaintenance's fiance just passed her interview in Manila she is 20 he is 58. Seems like age is not a factor. She did not have a career he started her in nursing school. She won't even finish her first year and she will be here in the USA. He visited her 1 time. GOOD LUCK!

my friend, shared to me his story. him and his girlfriend have a huge age gap. hes 23 years old. and hes girlfriend is 33. they filed k1 application. go through the process.. at the interview.. the consul officer asked him: "you and your fiance has a huge age gap. how come you will prove to me that your relationship is genuine and not for immigration purposes?" ...

im relaying this information to you because for two reasons..

1. it could possibly be one of the questions you may encounter.

2. I have the same situation. I am 25. and my girlfriend is 34. and i would want to ask, if you are ask by the consul that question. how will you respond to it?

by the way.. may friend was denied... he did not answer it well.. when i asked him what did he answered. he cant remember.. too much stress ..heheh..please do answer that question.pretty please.. thanks

I think that to answer truthfully is the best option. I do not think the age difference is huge, but I do think the concern might also reflect the unjust stereotype of a man marrying an older woman when people could hardly say anything about the reverse; a younger woman marrying an older man. Either way, answer in a truthful manner and tell the consul what are the things that you love about your fiancee and why you think you are a good couple. Really, the same answer you would give even if you had been born in the same year!

I guess it depends on the consul and the relationship background. The age difference in this case does seem immense, yet they were approved! We must remember that other things are involved in the decision process, too.
