Your fiance must sign one and send it over. Add your signed letter and put them both in the initial petition packet. Use the template on this site for both--they'll look exactly the same except for the original signatures.

Do it again before the interview so the new batch of letters is renewed and current for that stage. Yes.

The addresses thing is getting a tiny bit vague because they've just changed it so that ALL petitions go to Dallas before being sorted out to the regional service centers. Go to the USCIS website to find your regional center address if you want to use that on letters. It won't ruin anything to put Dallas on there, though.

The USCIS Dallas Lockbox

Alright, I don't want to mess this up tbh with you, but with that fiance letter of intent I want to make sure our names are in the right spot.

When it says "Applicant/beneficiary's name"

And when it says : "petitionary's or beneficiary's name"

Am I putting on mine, my name in the first part and his name in the second? and then I sign it

And when he signs his will his name be in the first part and mind in the second part? Thanks, sorry I'm just getting confused on this part!

And is my address going to be on both of them at the top?

I think you're reaching critical brain fog for the day, hee. The more you look at the forms, with all the anxiety around doing it perfectly, the more confusing it seems.

You are the petitioner. For your letter, use your name and address. Your fiance is the beneficiary. On his version, he'll use his name and address. On your letter, you'll say you [i, Kristin] wanna and will marry [that guy you're going to marry's name]. He'll switch those for his form. Because he's not you. He's him.

No, I was the same way. It all seems pretty obvious from the far side of the process but I know what a wilderness it is when you're in it for the first time. Nap time! Refresh! You don't have to do it all at once, and you probably can't do it all at once well. Even when you've got it all complete, let it marinate for a couple days and then look over it for errors before you think about sending. Fresh eyes.

This site is wonderful the amount of information it provides and the support of the members is priceless may you have good luck on your journey to your K1 visa

Yes, the site can be very helpful. Just feel free to ignore the "know-it-alls" and the sarcastic 40K + posting team!

Welcome, and enjoy YOUR journey!

Hey Kristin,

Looks like you've gotten a lot of help in this thread so far. I hadn't seen anyone reference a few links that we found extremely helpful though. One of those is the example forms at the top of the page, or the embassy reviews where you can confirm what others have been saying about the (lack of) need for extensive documentation of relationship/conversations etc. for most London couples.

Regarding your question about visiting, check out the FAQ which has a list of examples for what is used to show proof of ties. We found that list very useful, and especially the receipt notice helped Nik get in on his short visit after the petition was sent. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1visit

Take those forms one page, one field at a time and just work your way through them, and then soon you'll look around, and it will all be done!

Best wishes!

Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I'm a bit nervous but glad I got this website from someone. I'm currently looking into the process for the k-1 visa, have a british boyfriend and we plan on getting married sometime next year. I've been looking into the entire process and have a couple questions.

1. Is the price $1805, the cost of the entire process including the petition and other costs with the visa when your fiancee does their part?

2. He wants to visit here, meet the family some more and have us get the marriage/living/etc things sorted, he'd only visit for a week and a half or two, and I'm curious if this is actually possible for him to do? I know that with the K-1 visa he can only arrive in the U.S. once, he has to arrive 6 months after the visa is issued and we have to be married with 90 days of that. I was just wondering about before when I was sending in the petition and that?

Thank you so much and I'm sure you'll be hearing a lot more from me in the future!

Best,

Kristin

Hello Kristin!

Welcome to the journey. You could complete the petition packet soon and send it since it will take probably longer than 6 months to get an interview. In the mean time, if your fiance is able to come to the US (I do not know if you need a visa or if there is a visa waiver since he is from the UK), he can still come as the petition is in process. You should continue to gather evidence of a relationship after you send in your petition packet (you would bring it to the interview as proof).

As far as costs, just petition costs, you might be right. Yet, you will find that the cost of having a long distance relationship is far greater! In order to visit each other, talk, money for miscellaneous items (passports, pictures, medical exam, etc.) Really, if you do try to itemize the costs you might find out that you could have bought a brand new car...

Best wishes!

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

You were right! I took a break, and found out I aged my father by 30 years and forgot to respond to a question on one of the forms! lol yikes! But I've e-mailed him the 3 things I need from him and will hopefully get those asap :) He's a sweetie, said he'd get on it today, since we spoke last night about it :) Anyways to clarify I made a list of everything I needed, and I just have to get some fb messages, and I have chat logs from blackberry and msn as well to go with our proof of relations, would that be good along with pictures? I have quite a few from the different times we've seen each other in the past year (3 times altogether, including a semester I sent in london at uni) Here is my list and please correct me if I'm wrong on anything :)

1. Check: $455 (who do we make the check out too)?

2. Cover Letter

3. I-129F Form

4. Question 18-supplement ( I stapled this to the back of my I-129F form, is that okay? I figured since it was a part of that it would be okay)

5. Intent to Marry, both of them

6. Proof of having met (Pictures, boarding passes, and copies of passport stamps)

7. G-325A Form - Mine

8. Passport sized photo (do I staple this to the back of my G-325A form? I know I have to put it in a plastic bag with my full name on the back, but it is alright to staple the plastic bag to the form?

9. G-325 A Form -Dan's along with passport sized photo, I'll just wait to see what someone says about that what I asked above

10. Copy of Birth Certificate (does this have to be notarized? I think I already asked this and they said no so)

And we don't need anything else, no previous marriages, or children, or name changes or convictions so :)

Thanks everyone!!!!

And I can mail this to this address?:

USCIS

P.O. Box 660151

Dallas, TX 75266

Is this the best address to send it to or is there another faster way? And I have to send it by USPS? What's the fastest way to get it there? thank you!!!!

1. Write your check to United States Department of Homeland Security--don't abbreviate it.

2. Make sure your cover letter has a table of contents listing all the documents in your packet, in the order in which they are arranged.

3. Uhhuh.

4. I would stay away from staples except where you're fixing plastic bags to plain paper. USCIS is going to take the whole thing apart and reorganize it according to their own needs, and when they do that they're going to use a two-hole punch file folder. If you staple, it might rip some pages when they dismantle it. You can help them by two-hole punching the top of each page, then collating related documents with an Acco clip or a paper clip.

5.-7. Uhhuh.

8. Don't staple it to the G-325. Staple the plastic bag to a separate sheet of white paper. You can clip that page together with the G-325 if you like.

9. Right

10. No notarization needed. Back and front copies of the BC.

You still don't need your chats and emails. At all.

Use return receipt when you send by USPS. You can choose overnight if you want; that's fast. The address you have is the correct one--if you're sending by USPS. So send by USPS.

Augh and I keep forgetting that I don't need those message yet! I shall save them for the things that he needs! lol and just make sure all my pictures and boarding pass copies and passport stuff is in order :) Sorry about that, I remember someone mentioning that before!
