"The Costco Bride"

(a work of total fiction)

I'm just a simple farm boy

In the Costco membership

They sell me tons of stuff I need

On every shopping trip

I picked out my Kirkland bride

She filled my shopping cart

Now she bosses me around

Because I'm not that smart!

Oh I got my bride from Kirkland

She's a real bang-up gal

I put her on my MasterCard

But my bank did not allow

An increase of my credit

To the rafters, up a tree

She now lives on my pig farm

In the land of Hon-A-Lee!

Her ticket was expensive

I'll be paying through the nose

For her college education

And tricked-out fancy clothes

We have great sex on Thursdays

When the moon is green as cheese

But intercourse is tricky

Because it makes her sneeze! helpsmilie.gif

Ladies, you can also write poetry about your husbands

or whatever else tickles your luv.gifluv.gifluv.gif

I'm disappointed that nobody's doing this! It's a great idea, anyway. Here's some William Carlos Williams in the visa age.

This Is Just To Say

I have filed the K1 petition

that we've been preparing

and which you probably hoped

would cost less.

Skype me

There's a winter of waiting

before us, so long and

so cold.

Here is mine, a pseudo Haiku:

we met in summer

a german and a yankee

the love of my life

Interestingly, the way we met was through him writing me a (naughty) poem on a web board. Here we are, 2 years later. :luv:

I never paid much attention to the Haiku Rules regarding mora syllables

For me it's the feeling of the idea/image created by the words, not the count. good.gif

Susie Lee done fell in love,

She planned to marry Joe.

She was so happy 'bout it all,

She told her Pappy so.

Pappy tol' 'er, Susie gal,

You'll have to find another.

I'd just as soon yo'Ma don't know,

But Joe is yo' half brother!

So Susie put aside her Joe

An' planned to marry Will.

But after telling Pappy this,

He said,"There's trouble still."

You can't marry Will, my gal,

An' please don't tell yo' mother.

But Will and Joe, and several mo'

I know is yo' half brother.

But Mama knew and said my child,

Just do what makes yo' happy.

Marry Will or marry Joe:

You ain't no kin to Pappy!

Lewinsky and Kaczynski

The Washington Post runs a weekly contest in its Style section called the 'Style Invitational'.

The requirements this week were to use the two words 'Lewinsky' (the Intern) and 'Kaczynski' (the UnaBomber) in the same limerick.

Now, remember, the following winning entries were actually printed verbatim in the newspaper, no bleeps or XXX’s:

Third place:

There once was a girl named Lewinsky

Who played on a flute like Stravinsky

'Twas 'Hail to the Chief'

On this flute made of beef

That stole the front page from Kaczynski.

Second place:

Said Clinton to young Ms. Lewinsky,

We don't want to leave clues like Kaczynski,

Since you made such a mess,

Use the hem of your dress

And please wipe that stuff off your chinsky.

And the winning entry:

Lewinsky and Clinton have shown

What Kaczynski must surely have known,

That an intern is better

Than a bomb in a letter,

When deciding how best to be blown.
