My wife's parents received their visas to immigrate to the U.S. They will be bringing their life's savings with them (excess of the $10,000 allowed to be brought on the plane). Anyone know the ins and outs of getting them set up? If we allow them to wire funds to our account I understand that we may be liable for taxes. They cannot establish an account here, I don't believe, without a social security number. Will they be taxed on their money as it enters? Any help is appreciated.

they must declare it on entry

and it's not taxed on entry, ever.
