I received a letter from USCIS today stating that my AOS file had been transferred from the Missouri office to the California Service Center. I live in Texas, why would the file be moved so far away? I was expecting the letter to advise me of my Biometrics appointment, just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience and how long it took for the AOS to process through the California Center.

Thanks!

You will get a biometrics letter from your closest office.

Being transfered to CSC usually means you dont have an AOS interview. But there is still a chance they can find something and rather you have an interview, in which case they would move the case back to your closest center for interview.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

You probably won't have an interview and have your AOS approved in about 4 months. We live in Texas too and had our AOS transferred to California where is sat for 6 months and then was transferred to Houston and two months later had our interview, but that is unusual. We got approved and the green card arrived about two weeks later.

We got are biometrics appointment set about a month after we filed, but after we got the notice we went in early and they weren't busy and they let us do it then. Someone else on Visajourney had said that they did that, so we gave it a try.

Good luck.

Do you know if it is normal to have the case transferred before you get the biometrics appointment?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's "normal" but it happens. What you have to realise is just because your file is in California, does not mean you will do your biometrics or anything there. You will do your biometrics, and your interview (if you have one), at your local office.

don't stress about the transfer, almost all files are transferred to CSC these days... there's more staff there. Mine was and I was in Iowa.

Look at our timeline. Stop worrying about nothing; everything is moving along just fine.

I also don't know if it is normal. It happen that way with us. I believe that having your case transferred to California is a good thing - that they believe that all is well with your case.

You should be getting a biometric appointment soon. It may only be that the San Antonio bio office is very busy.

Best of luck.

I agree with everyone else, your biometrics appt will be the closest office to your address. Fingers crossed you won't get the interview, it sounds like you won't! I've got my biometrics tomorrow, I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get transferred soon too. I've had enough of all the stress now...

Does anyone know generally why they call some people for interviews and skip others? I know its been talked about alot but I still don't understand why they do this

As simple as perhaps needing to ask a question to explain something they see in your application. I was transferred to CSC but have since changed my address twice since the transfer. I won't be at all shocked if my application doesn't get transferred back to my local office so they can ask "Why have you changed address twice?". It could be seen as a red flag. But it's really nothing more than my husband receiving promotions at work which is a good thing!
